I read that it used to get audience figures of 11 million. That's some achievement but also a reminder of how our world has changed.

I heard the news on the radio as

"Canadian Jim Bowen has died"

I thought "I would never have pegged him as a Canadian", then later realised they had been saying "Comedian Jim Bowen has died".

I was telling a friend this, who replied:

"I would never have pegged him as a comedian"

You couldn't beat a bit of Bully. 15 million viewers at the height of popularity. Although I think that was partly to do with the fact that 1730 on a Sunday evening was a graveyard for television back in the 1980s.

My favourite was 'Good answer. But it's not the right answer.' And the number of speedboats won by people from Tamworth, which is about as far as you can get from the sea.
