This weekend I was asked to update a Claymore. Unfortunately this Claymore is a copy made by Bensley Electronics, and somehow they are using a rip of Claymore 2 circuit board.
If you are offered one of these beware it is not made by me.

Unbelievable, I'll keep an eye out for any of those
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.....but that doesn't make it any more palatable.

Are these new or were they produced many years ago?

Assuming it's the same company, it looks as though they have not been in business for a while. Different address, but still Essex. Means nothing as could be a director's address.

Here's what my original mk 2 looks like

It may be stating the obvious but doesn't copyright apply?

Intellectual property rights?
Reputational damage if its complete pants or heaven forbid unsafe....
This kind of thing is not good for the industry or our hobby.
Suspect it arises from far east somewhere. What a rip off. Probably does not even pass basic electric tests.
Whoever made this did not spend time on how locations on UK streets are numbered. Certainly should not be using roman numerals. And postcode is missing.
Bensley Electronics was based in Canvey Island and was dissolved in Sept. 1998 - I assume as the owner retired.
Sorry that you have been affected by this Colin.

I know of two people who have original Claymore's in their original form. Both working perfectly. The copy above looks total shite my comparison. I would love one of those Mk2's like.

Just to add to the story,
My wife Jenny and I was married just 2 weeks and were coming back from Honeymoon we had a great time in Lynmouth Devon. (it still hold a special place in my heart).
On the way back she crashed the car on the M5 she was killed. Me I had burns and few broken bones.
The few month after shitty event I was still in shock and to be honest I had no clue what the hell I was doing. And often drunk and I fell of a balcony into our garden in at Leigh On Sea, breaking me arm again.
In that period I had designed lots of things according to my records.
One was a new Claymore the artwork for the tracking was drawn by a sub contractor and I forgot all about it. It seems this contractor passed the PCB layout to Bensley, but the art work text was not changed.
Near the reservoir capacitors in small writing on the silk screen it says " Design by C.J.Wonfor for Jenny" and the date is the date she died 20th May 1990.
So in a funny way these amps are special. Even if I never made them they are special because they memorialise Jenny.
Here is Jenny with Scot and Penny my kids just a few day before she died,

That's a hell of a story Colin. No wonder these amps are special to you. Kudos to you for even being able to function after such a monumental blow, i'm certain I wouldn't have been any use to anyone for at least a year.

Paul,
I am now 65 yrs old and life is flying by far to quickly, grab it, love, have fun, and laugh a lot. It the only way to stay nuts. sorry sane.
The last 4 yrs have been magic for me great friends, a kind and loving new wife/friend. No bully boys trying to control me and steal my ideas. OK I tick like a clock, I walk and fall a lot. I laugh at me and silly people, I died twice in those last 4 yrs from heart and virus problems. But I am not ready do to give up so screw the twats of the world that wish me gone.
So live long and have a life.
Best Col
