Pickering cartridges.

What is the general view about the moving iron designs here?:D

Having owned a variety of Pickering and largely similar Stanton cartridges, all I can say is that they do the job, but I never quite came to terms with the slight coarseness I discerned about the top end with all of them. That's not to say that they don't work well enough though, they do have a bit of 'drive' about the sound.

I have a NOS V15 which I sometimes use on less than pristine recordings. It's not 'special' in any way, but it's clean enough and as Geoff says, they do have a bit of get up and go about them. In a lower end system I could probably live with it quite happily. Some of the higher end models are supposed to be a lot better from what I've heard.
