A lovely thing - for those not averse to a bit of tasteful piano black and chrome & gold bling. ;)

LA Audio a small, Taiwanese valve amp company with an interesting range of offerings. From the website I deduce they are a family run concern with a genuine enthusiasm and concern for high quality.

See here http://www.laaudio.com.tw/products_detail.php?id=34&lang=en

Excellent condition and PWO.
Auto-bias, so just swap away with different flavours of el84 to your heart's delight.

Comes with el84 quads of Reflektor (cryo) and Reflektor (non cryo).
And 2x ecc81 - TungSol Cryo, Telefunken and some others to play with.

Sounds great, and really quite like a Leak Stereo 20 to my ears.
220V.

With provided valves, it cost me well over £500.
I'm asking ....
£400 posted UK. Or £380 collected from GL17.

Always open to offers of px or swaps. :)

Bump :)

Swapsies or P/X of any interest?

I'm happy to bring it along for a dem if you are within sensible driving distance of Sunny Gloucestershire.

Did the cryo-ed valves help?
Well, they certainly sound different.

Standard Reflektor are quite exuberant and a bit forward, whereas the cryoed ones are more relaxed and easy going.
My immediate reaction was that the cryo treatment had turned them into Mullards!
Horses for courses and whatever takes your fancy - but the difference in sound is quite marked.

LA Audio were a Danish amplifier company from the early 1990s. I still have their advertising brochures and a Made in Denmark P60 Gold power amp (2x 6550 per channel) that I bought in preference over some highly regarded amps back then, including I think the Audio Research Classic 30. At some point they appear to have been taken over and are now a Taiwanese company, which is rather unusual. The current owners have retained the styling, including font, although my P60 is fully enclosed. If the current amps are based on the original Danish designs then they should sound similarly open and detailed like good modern valve amps.

Gosh!
Thanks for that, Jeff, I had no idea of their origins.

It's an excellent sounding amp, very reminiscent indeed of a Leak St20 (I've had two) - I just fancy a change.
I'd not be heartbroken if it stayed! :)

Wot?
Are you impugning the aesthetics of my lovely amp?
It would go great with Marco's Gangsta Merc.

A lovely quad of el84 - just what his Big Mutha Tannoys need. :D

I'll give this a bump.

It now comes with just the Reflektor el84 (fabulous!) and Brimar ecc81 (also very, very nice!).
The other valves mentioned previously above seem to have gone walkabout. - but these worked best anyway. :)

I'll take £325 UK del. Although I'd prefer pickup or meetup, for obvious reasons.
