Does anybody use Cubase?

Evenin' all.

Does anybody use Cubase to record vocals? I haven't done it for years and cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong!

I've watched as many videos on youtube as I can find but to no avail.

Hi Rich, Have you considered using audacity (Freeware)?
I use it to record vynle, in my system it will record at 32bit at 196khz.

Hi Mick,

Never tried Audacity, I shall have a look at it though.

My problem is that I have spent a fair bit of time programming music on Cubase, and I'm now at the stage where i want to add vocals but can't get it to recognise the mic, it must be old age as I have done it numerous times in the past with different set ups.

Hi Rich, you can record using audacity, export as "midi" then import into Cubase.

Should solve your problem.

I used to use Cubase many years ago but when I got a more recent version it was completely different and totally baffling - not intuitive at all. I just gave up and started using Reaper, which is much cheaper (or free, if you don't pay for it) and found it much more user-friendly. How they managed to make Cubase so difficult to use, I have no idea :scratch:

BTW, Audacity is useful for some jobs, but not for music production.

I completely agree with that, I first used Cubase on Atari 1040 in the very early 90s when it was purely MIDI. somewhere between then and now it peaked, then got far too complicated.
