Hi
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the EAR 859 single ended amps. When this design was released to the public by Mr P I made my own version of it with transformers supplied by Peter Chapell. It was a very good amp but I never got to hear the original,so I never knew if my version was in the same league as the real one.Has anyone views to offer on these amps?
Cheers Dave.

HiFi dave should be able to help. I think he's had most if not all of Tim's products through his hands at some time or another.

The EAR 899 is an excellent amp and I've been selling them steadily since it's introduction around 7-8 years ago. However, I have no way of knowing how good a DIY version is. Tube amps sink or swim on the contruction and quality of the transformers and it's these that give EAR their get up and go.

Hi Dave
Thanks for that but, it was the single ended 859 I was interested in.Have you any views on these?
Cheers Dave.

Oooops, it's an age thing, I could have sworn it was the 899. Still some of my comments apply, I don't know how your amp compares with Tim's.
