Hi all, Anyone had bought or own a psu from Swagman lab which is based in far east(HK). Heard some positive reviews so ordered one(ebay)for my Pro-ject tube box ds phono stage. It cost £118 which includes shipping to UK.
Thanks

I’d be careful that it’s genuinely 240v and not 220v some Chinese sellers claim it’ll be ok and sometimes it is but others have had issues and worst case can catch fire. I had to wait for a 240v version of an item recently while they sourced the transformers but it’s worth it.

Looks really nice..btw can you please share your thoughts if there’s any improvement compared to the wall wart.
Thanks

In my case the improvements over the wallwart are huge. However, at the time of purchasing I had already upgraded the motor by bolting it to the original plinth, dampened by rubber grometts. I am not sure how significant the improvement will be with the original Rega motor mounts, which aren't the best. The first thing you should notice is an extra inky blackness between tracks, giving the individual instruments more space around them. Hopefully this will make the performance sound more musically coherent. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180219/04d1676ee20a5e9f0c720364205691cb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180219/c3a49a21c57b13c3a578ffe889be9bb8.jpg

I’ve been running one on my RP8 since December - can’t recommend it highly enough and glad to get rid of the horrible Rega wall wart!

The Swagman LPS arrived today after 1 week from HK. My initial impression was that it has solid construction and weighty for its size. It really matches the Tube Box DS visually(both size and colour). I think its too early to share my thoughts on how it compares(sonically) to the wall wart it replaces. I’ll give it a couple more days and report back.

Thanks Barrington, How many hrs would you suggest and do you leave it “on”?

About 48 hours. And I never power it down, the blue light stays on.

The psu arrived from HK in less than a week. Initial impression was that it is solidly built and heavier than I thought for its size. Left it on for 2 days before serious listening and comparing with the wall wart. The improvement is quite noticeable that the music sounded much fuller with less bakground noise. The music is more vibrant with more detail without being edgy or splashy. Microdetails and soundstaging also improved. Overall Im quite happy with the upgrade which only cost £118.
