There is a need for a new vacuum cleaner and cordless is what I'm after. This is for Tango whose is very hairy :)

Dyson and Vax seem the obvious choices so I'm wondering what other pet lovers amongst us may be using?
Cheers.
I've got a GTECH Air ram which is very good at picking up cat hairs but is limited as it's just an upright vacuum cleaner. I bought a Vax Pro Blade on the cheap during Black Friday as it is much more versatile but I've found the suction and battery life not as good as the GTECH. Also the dust containers fill up very quickly on both of them......maybe it's just very dirty here HA!. The best vacuum cleaner I've ever had and still do have is the orange Vax wet and dry cleaner, not cordless but could probably suck a golf ball through a hose pipe. Whichever one I use poor little Mia the cat goes into hysterics and hides for a couple of hours.
I use a G Tech K9 which is cordless and designed for pet hairs (hence the name!). Works brilliantly and very well made. Highly recommended.

Not all their products are good, though. Last year I bought a GTech long pole hedge trimmer to help tackle some of my hedges. It received top billing in a Which report and certainly scored with it's low weight. Problem was, it was so feeble that it would only cut the wispy, fresh growth on the bushes and anything slightly woody or over 2 - 3 mm was beyond it's capabilities and it would stall.
I returned it within the 7 days trial period and they charged me £10 handling. That rather put me off buying a GTech handheld vacuum cleaner.
the aeg cordless hoovers are good

Dyson from the ebay outlet.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112351558902
for £130 with the wall bracket and motorised head included that is a great price for a refurb that are usually just like new.

Are they good though? It seems to me that they are a second cleaner to something heavier which beats the carpet more...you know the big Hoover and Sebos of a certain weight.
Im just running an Electrolux 700W at the moment but I do fancy the look of those Dysons. Cord free would be lovely if it just clips into a wall mounted charging bracket
Probably need to use big one on occasion with carpets. Depends on many variables am gonna get one next time I need one

This is how I bought mine. Totally satisfied with it and been using it for a while now.

Looks interesting. Might be just the job.

Don't know why but I have a pet hate of anything Dyson... it might be all the bright colours Dyson use and the design of them turns my stomach for some reason
I use a Sebo vac which is really well made and quiet too but not cordless
How about the Hoover Discovery which is cordless

I can’t stand Dysons either. Sebo are much better, and underrated IMO. Currently have a corded Shark which is unbelievably powerful and great for pet hairs. I believe the cordless models are good too.

Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like Dysons Tony.. I think the 'no bag thingy' is overrated and is just a marketing ploy.. as there is nothing wrong with bagged vacs and they are probably a lot cleaner to empty anyway
I've read good things about the Shark as well
The other vac's I've had experience of are Kirby's which are also excellent but just too heavy so the Sebo/Miele are a good alternative, and Made In Germany ;)
got a vax cylinder type with a big bag and a power head. does a great job and can wash too if needed.

The Dyson hot and cool heater looks like a good product. I must get a demo.
That said I cant get too interested in vacuum cleaners. I tend to pick up whats on offer at a supermarket or TJ hughes style discount store.

Dyson here. Mrs C swears by it and to be fair it does the business with cat hair. I find it has an irritating high pitch, a tendency to suddenly run out of juice with no warning and being all plastic it looks as if the whole thing would be knackered if just a small piece got snapped off. But what do I know, her vote counts double my own on these issues.

Dont buy a Bosch Athlet. While they are very good performance-wise the build quality is not very good. After two years mine has gone through 2 handles, a main casing and the head, which is most of the vacuum cleaner. Its now out of warranty, so I don’t expect to have it much longer. The electrical connection between the new handle and the main body is already starting to fail after only 8 weeks.

Too late! Bought one at the sales last year and quite happy with it so far.
Like other posters here, I can't understand the love for Dyson. Absolute rubbish IME. The perfect triumph of marketing over substance.

Well have sorted it now - with a VAX Blade. A 32 volt model. So far picking up ALL random cat hairs with seeming ease. Downside is dirt container soon fills up with crud I never knew I had. Complete with tools as well. :)

Sold my Vax on Ebay - well it was just gathering dust...
To be honest I don't think any of those cordless jobbies would pick a kitten up let alone a cat (Sorry, I love 'em really).
