To be honest, I can't work out the price, is it £450? (£600 - £150?)

beautiful reel to reel,I love the 909,it only has one draw back the heads are a little on the soft side but with a set of spare heads it should out live it's owner in most cases.

As posted elsewhere, I have an RT-707, the little brother of the 909 and it is a fantastic deck. Folks will be able to hear mine in action at Scalford, if I can get some airtime :) If I had the money I'd have already snapped Jon's hand off, and at this price it's definitely excellent value. As far as ¼" 4 track decks go, the really 909 is one of the best (IMHO!) so I wish Jon every success in his sale, his looks like it's as mint as they come :)

I might get down to Scalford tomorrow, not sure just yet.

My RT had it's heads professionally replaced about 10 years ago, all 4 heads! They were replaced by a guy who used to be the head technician in Red Tape Studios (amongst others) in Sheffield, a total Don who used to work at Abbey Road in the 60's (and yes, he fixed the reel machines that The Beatles used on Peppers) but he is sadly no longer with us... :( - There, a bit of provinance for you... although perhaps a little strained. lol

new heads makes that R2R a real winner,
they always sounded great and looked nice in the rack too.
I wish Pioneer would build stuff like that today.
To build a R2R like that today would cost thousends.
