Just of late I've noticed that some dart competitions, formula one have decided to stop having attractive women fronting their events, why? I've asked my mum,she says it's a load of old rubbish,nobodys forcing them and it's probably well paid. Any opinions?
It's feminists gone mad as per usual. Like all these things they take their protests too far imv.

Interesting that the feminists appear to be happy about this announcement. Are they equally happy that their ‘sisters’ who used to perform these modelling duties will be down the job centre on Monday looking for new jobs?

Unfortunately it is the bad apples in the barrel that spoil it for the rest of us.
There is a beauty to the female form that has developed over millennia as part of the mating process.
In a civilised society it is respect that controls the process, with a look being the first stage. Long may that continue.

I find it tacky too, BUT is is my right to stop people doing it if they want? I don't think so so I just dont watch or go. nothing wrong with pretty women showing off their shape a bit,
... Its usually the less pretty that kick up for some reason... dont get me wrong, I like a nice looking lady myself. but Im just not that interested these days.... prefer a nice amp:eyebrows:

I think you need to consider the lead up to a girl getting a job like that and what that implies in the interview/casting couch/talent spotting stage.
This is hot off the Weinstein case and everyone must be seen to clean up their act or else, and personally I do think it's a good call to stop it.
While The Sun remains the most powerful opinion maker in the UK, we need to do everything we can to limit it's power on the men who do wolf-whistle and grope women when they've had a few and if that means PC gone mad then I can live with that. Imagine it was your daughter who was in the office with the bloke on the first rung of the ladder ??
Besides all of that, it is incredibly tacky.
Like watching "Love Thy Neighbour" and laughing tacky.

Having said all that, I think what Catherine Deneuve said last week was bang on : she's flirted to get roles, used her womanly charms, smiled and laughed at the right times, etc .. women aren't naive. I spoke to my sister - a strong career woman earning far more than her husband - and asked her if she had a blow-out on the motorway would she roll up her sleeves and change the wheel or stand there looking helpless for a minute or two hoping a nice man would stop to help her out. She agreed and said "I can turn it on when I need to".
I've flirted and charmed my way into - and out of - situations. I've definitely got jobs by using my charisma and saying things I probably shouldn't have.
You use what tools you have available. But there's a difference between you using them and you being coerced - however subtly - into feeling you have to use them.
It's a fine line but this sends out the right message at the right time.
i would have liked to see someone coerce my mum. they would have got a slap. yet she was once a chorus girl on stage showing off her body while dancing during the war and before... how shocking and disgusting eh? sorry but these gals know full well what they are doing.

I am into freedom of expression and lack of censorship but obviously there are limits, laws and lines to be drawn. Ok there will be philosophies on absolutely no censorship and the slippery slope of oppression. At what point do I draw my line for a decent society
Is it right for a national newspaper to be showing womens breasts on a set page...really a daily newspaper? What sort of message does this send out and what do we say to the females within our families. Its a double standard as women are not just objects. Its also the male female power dynamic which can see females as subservient, easy targets or willing to be oggled in that "available" way.
I know many women that could beat me at sport, strength or whatever you care to name. Theres manufactured "girl power" and real power of equality
Yes you could say people should be free to use their own bodies in whatever way but I say there are limits within a civilized society
Was the Benny Hill sketch really acceptable chasing lingerie clad women around. I would say it isnt funny and that is base humour which is just creepy. Was it ever funny and how have we changed?
So with the darts girls and motor racing, are we not moving away from a time when women are stood by the cars or walking on purely as eye candy in that environment? I suppose cheerleaders come into it but they are putting on some sort of show. I havent tried to ban it...Im a bit confused about sounding like a hypocrite but I do find it tacky now. Maybe it is my older age but I think that allows me to see things more clearly
I like to think Im easy going but some people will argue against that. Im not about banning an adult industry but some people would. Theres a whole debate about how far does it go, who is using who and the thin end of the wedge.
How are a woman's breasts 'uncivilised'? And why is it only women? What about scantily clad men? Is it 'wrong' for women to look at such images? Or is that okay because they are men? Do we not have better things to worry about (if we are going to worry about anything)? No-one is forced to buy the Sun, or read it. Millions do, are they wrong? And if you think they are, then what exactly sets you up as the moral arbiter over other people's choices?
There is a wider issue here which is that there is a certain sub-set of society, well-educated and well-paid, who think that they are not only entitled, but beholden to instruct the rest of us on the matters of right and wrong. Because we are a bit thick and don't know what's best for us. And if we ignore their cajoling, or worse, take the piss out of them about it, well they will damn well pass it into law and force us to see it their way. Because they are right and they know that they are right.
The reality is that they are nothing but self-important fools.
I understand the reasons why the sports promoters are removing the girls and how times are changing where women should not just be seen as eye candy as its demeaning.
Meanwhile however over on Strictly Come Dancing there's plenty of pervage to be had, but that's somehow ok as they have some fit blokes too so everyone's happy.
Maybe the answer would be for the darts to hire some chippendales alongside the girls.
Less an issue of political correctness and more of balance I think,

There may come a time in the future when "attractive" women have a hard time getting dates, as potential suitors will fear being seen as sexual predators, who are "only interested in one thing", and these unfortunately beautiful women will have to resort to cosmetic surgery to have some ugliness fitted.
Perhaps all of us will have to wear a uniform (perhaps dungarees and monkey boots) in order to level the playing field, and how about issuing "relationship certificates" upon completion of psychological tests to keep the weirdos out?

I think it is an important issue. As usual there are things much worse but instead something relatively harmless gets canned as a measure to somehow combat the real issue. We have kids growing up with a very distorted and disturbing view of what a relationship is, sexual or otherwise. Would it not have been better for F1 to swing it’s resources behind a campaign to combat this. “Here’s a bit of glamour to the proceedings and here is something else that you also have to understand in it’s context (porn), otherwise you will have the wrong idea of what a relationship is”....

I do see the points you are making. I am probably in the majority middle ground that didnt call for anything to be done. I appreciate a good looking woman and I didnt get upset or anything. I am playing a bit of devils advocate.
I get confused with information that comes from both sides. I sort of wouldnt want my daughter doing that sort of thing but would actually defend her right to choose. I dont have a daughter which might say a lot. I would just have wanted more middle ground where perhaps national newpapers couldnt publish topless pictures but regulated magazines could. I wouldnt want my daughter getting covered in tattoos but would secretly admire her courage and freedom in the way she wants to live life. Are any of us really free? Ive a sense that only the dead go free :)
Ive seen the women who seemed to be forced into prostitution through abuse and drugs when I was helping in a Manchester day centre. So it is a question of context when trying to protect people
I accept that the darts girls are not really on that scale of nude modelling or prostitution
I think that the whole PC thing is probably taking over and its not just a black and white issue. I do see what you are saying

Ive been objectified and sometimes I found it pleasant. On the flip side I know what its like to be used and cheated. Thats life I suppose.

I get where you're coming from, but every man and his dog these days has tattoos, and many are covered in them, especially young people (as it's fashionable), so it's no longer exclusively the badge of someone who's a 'free spirit', or a bit 'out there' - more likely quite the opposite, and simply the indication of pandering to a trend.
However, I fully support your view, in terms of freedom in general, and particularly having the freedom to be who you want to be, and stand out as an individual (not merely a 'number'), as free as possible from being 'controlled by the system', all of which has always been, and still is, very important to me.
That's why, as far as possible, I divorce myself from said system and usually do the complete opposite of what's considered 'the norm', shunning trends with a passion. Therefore, in terms of the question you've posed above, how much freer can you be, than when you're in full control of your day ahead, and feel that way every morning?
For example, there's nothing that I'm not free to do today, if I *really* wanted to... I may not do it, simply because it's impractical (for example flying to France for lunch), or suchlike, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be free to do it, if I really wanted. I have no 'boss' controlling me, or anything else holding me back.
So what exactly do you mean, in terms of are any of us "really free"? "Really" being the operative word here :)

I think a level of money buys a certain freedom and thats the most important thing it does buy. Freedom is sold to us as political propaganda. I have an extended family who are quite wealthy but my dad had to work 24/7 for everything and so do I. I will stick with my view that only the dead go free :)

Which some of them might be, for all we know. Is part of the problem that we see people for the work they do rather than who they are? You might feel sorry for those kids working at McDonalds but how many are there part time while they do a college course? Or will move on to something better once they have some work experience on their CV? Or maybe they are saving up to backpack around India for 6 months. I mean this isn't 1950, most people don't stay doing the one job all their lives anymore. I think middle-class, highly educated people with a career tend to forget that, or not even realise it.
The McDonalds lot might even be seeking a career in retail management, especially as these places are renowned for promoting young people.
Have you seen the ages of some of their managers? Most aren't long out of nappies... And I'm told that the salary is decent, and also the likelihood of further promotion, depending on how good you are and how far you want to go, so it's not all 'doom and gloom' :)
Mostly, what you get out of life is down to what you MAKE happen! That's why retaining our freedom of choice is *so* vitally important.

ffs...sex sells and buys..If someone has got it and can flaunt it and make a good living at the same time, doing something they love to do...absolute result...good luck to them....Those that don't like it, need only to pick up the remote and switch the TV over to another channel...and maybe..just maybe mind you, might find another channel where someone is not in the buff, or showing off what they have...

I fully understand and appreciate why you didn't want your daughter to go down that road, and if I had one, I'd be the same.
However, the fact is that in the vast majority of cases, certainly in well-managed establishments (not the 'glorified' brothels), it's not the pole dancers being exploited, but rather the sad old pervs/losers (in the main) who frequent these places, simply to sit and drool at women that they'll never be able to have, as it's *very strictly* 'look but not touch'!
Therefore, the reality is that many young girls, especially those who in the past may have been subjected to some form of discrimination from men, or even abuse, find the whole experience of pole dancing rather empowering, as for a change, *they* are the ones who are in control, and so derive much satisfaction from that, not to mention in many cases a much needed boost to their confidence and self-esteem.
Just another angle to consider! There's actually a story line about that very subject now, running on Coronation St, for those of you who follow the soaps, or perhaps indirectly 'follow' them, as a result of their wives or girlfriends doing so... ;)

It come down to skin condition: the worse thing a woman can do is to smoke - it ages them very quickly and can make them look 10 - 15 years older than their physical age.

Failing that we will just have to rely on our existing member base with pole dancing experience to let us know if they felt empowered or exploited.
