ebay ditches Paypal

So ebay is ditching Paypal in favour of a company known as Adyen. This has resulted in shares dropout for Paypal. I wonder how long it will be before we find out that ebay is closely tied to Adyen...?

I've just read a message from ebay about this. PayPal is not ditched and remains a payment method method. Ayden, apparently will become the primary payment handler.

I'd guess that although co-owned, ebay and PayPal operate autonomously and are free to choose alternative trading partners.

Something tells me that someone is cutting costs here and both decent buyers and sellers will lose out. The obvious cost cuts will be the humans who intervene in disputes (albeit usually sticking rigidity to the rules) and the fraudsters and shisters will gain. I hope I'm wrong, but if I lose my PayPal protection then it's no better than Amazon marketplace which I currently avoid for that reason.

Yeah just shite chinese stuff and if you pay by CC too much hassle to return and hope they refund you. I'm sure CDs and books from the main sellers are ok.

Yes we need to look for the real business decisions here. Im finding it harder to understand because ebay own Paypal.

Theres some cost cutting decision here which most probably isnt in favour of the level of service I can expect to receive.

I dont like change and ebay have just resolved an item not received case for me as soon as they could step in.

As a buyer I have always felt well protected and have been happy to pay paypal fees as part of the price...Ive had some great prices over the years...new cds recently for far less than any high street shop price so Im not complaining about the current level of service.

Unless Im offered something worthwhile I have no wish to deal with these new payment processors. I dont really know what is going on but I always smell a rat :)

it was a legal thing that made them be broken into 2 entities... its really just on paper to keep mr law happy.
