camtwister

Hello AoS,
My mother calls me "John" not "camtwister", which is a reference to camshafts in pre-war internal combustion engines and what ocurs when they are connected to my right foot.
I'm not in the hi-fi trade but have been fortunate enough to have travelled the world over the past twenty years as a sound engineer for both live event and studio production. I retired from the road a few years back and now freelance as a studio technician when my job supporting performing arts in a HE institution allows.
I have a preference for classic British components or manufacturers in my vinyl system. Having said that my turntable is Swiss. I've modified a Lenco GL75 with a Linn arm. Idler drives do it for me.
I'm a rockabilly at heart and used to have a switchblade pompadour when I was young enough to get away with looking daft. I have a collection of several hundred 1950s rhythm 'n' blues 45s. Recently I seemed to be getting turned on by 200g pressings of Blue Note and bop recordings from the early sixties. I need to start smoking a pipe.
Vinyl system: Ortofon 2M Blue, Linn LVX+, achromat, GL75 with custom damped internals, hard-tailed to a Collinson birch plinth - modified with a granite base and veneered in Indian rosewood, Michell Tenderfeet.
Graham Slee Era Gold V moving magnet phono stage with PS1 psu.
Sugden A48 Mk.II (due to be upgraded) or a Naim Nait (green LED Mk.I).
Rogers LS7t or Musical Fidelity MC4.
Atlas Hyper 3.0 or NACA5 depending on the amp. Roksan interconnects.
Partington open frame stands.
Et...voila.
