I know this is a good partner for the 103 cartridge,
I think the specs are different for my 103sa so would it still be a good match?
I’ve been offered one but I’m not sure about sut matching
Thanks in advance

Thanks in advanceIt's a Headamp not a SUT.

I have one here modded by Phonomac and it's top draw

100 ohm loading.

It isn't a step-up transformer, it's a headamp, hence the HA in its name.
I doubt the 103SA is different enough from the 103 to make any difference to the headamp.

I've tried one. It does the job, but the only way I can describe the sound is 'less involving' than my SUT.

I don't know what they sell for these days, but if it's £200 or more, I'd regard the money as far better spent on a Fidelity Research FRT-3 SUT. There just happens to be one for sale on Lenco Heaven and a Cinemag SUT, both around £200.

I agree that on a largely passive system such as mine, the sound can be a little "enhanced" compared to the Rothwell SUT I am using BUT in an active system such as Jamie's I'd be tempted to try the HA-500.

Just my experience.

Sounds fair. I'd guess they'd be worth about the same.
