View Full Version : Shure M55EM + Jico SAS
As mentioned elsewhere, I am selling my Shure M55EM with a Shure stylus and also a Jico SAS.
This is the pre-neo SAS, so has the Boron cantilever. I have done no more than 100 hours with this as I prefer a couple of the other cartridges I own and have decided to thin down the collection a bit.
What you will receive is pictured below:

I am after £170 posted.
Stunning combination and absolute bargain. I am using this combination currently and it really is a fantastic MM cartridge. The Jico SAS digs deep and lifts the cartridge to another level without hardly any surface noise but great detail and finesse.
Good luck with the sale.
I have had an offer to buy the Jico stylus, but before I agree is there any interest in the M55 at £50 posted?
I've been thinking about the whole package, I have a 2m Black as a spare cart ( I mostly run MC with a Zyx r100).
How would the 55/Jico compare to the Black do you think?
it would be easier to buy a stylus for it than the shure mike

It's a nice combo. Same as my current one

I have both Mike. Have a look at my posts concerning this combination as I have done a lot of comparison with the 2M Black.
In short the 55/Jico has all the detail of the 2M but less surface noise and is fuller bodied than the 2M . The 2M sounds leaner. The only area the 55/Jico looses out is in top end air and acoustic information but you gain a flesher tonal quality with the 55/ Jico. Compromises in both cartridges I feel, like everything you gain in one area but loose in another.
I really like both. If you want musicality then the 55/Jico is better. If you want live vivid dynamics then 2M.

A 2M Black Stylus is about £370 though, so you could get a Jico NEO SAS for roughly the same money, probably with change to spare.

I like my 2m Black, but looking for something just a little fuller sounding and just a tad less treble.

The M55/Jico certainly has less treble than the 2M and is fuller bodied so maybe exactly what your looking for?:)
It looks like the complete package is sold subject to payment etc.
Payment now received, so it’s now sold.
