Yeah! Although I know even less about cars than I do hifi! I have a very good mate who works for small company that builds motorsport bmws so I have spent a couple of weekends loitering around the pits at silverstone oggleing (and photographing) the fast cars ... Most enjoyable way to spend a weekend!

This is more the choice of some of us. Not many, but some.

I love it!

Reminds me of Peter Sellers in a Movie (The Magic Christian)
Concerned that England was becomeing a tiny car nation and would soon become a nation of tiny people.
Then introduced his idea for a new monster car called The Zeus!
It is one of my favorite films,It also costared Ringo Star!

To many people spend to much money on shit cars to often in this country, amusingly
though it results in this sort of thing http://www.yourcarisshit.com/

Then there are things like this

Or if you want moving pictures check this one out. He had plenty of chances to catch it, but he managed to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory in the end. The laughter on the sound track sums it up nicely.

Notice the standard Renault Megane having to slow down to avoid the "performance car"

Ha, tit, his rear spoiler obviously needed to be much much much bigger to give him that extra bit of rear traction....

Something like this maybe

Hi hamish.

A spoilers function is to increase downforce to the rear wheels, that is certainly performing its function.

If anything, it works better than the real thing as it is adding about 20 pounds of downforce whilst parked. It could get comical at anything above a fast trot mindst and god help you if you were following this on a motorway.

What kind of drugs would be needed for that to look like a good idea, and where do you get them?

Have you seen this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtxfbxGz1u4

I have been to Santa Pod A few times , never raced just watched, i quite enjoy tractor pulling, all the noise but not the speed.

This is my favorite engine and its all mine, its not a v8 just 1 cylinder,
it weights 2.25 tons runs on parrafin, needs a blow lamp to start it and those flywheels are 4ft in diametre, but only produces 10hp, a bit like valves verses solid state its all in the power from that 9 inch piston, the heart of the beast
This is my favorite posession and is 100 years old, completly original and still going strong

Hi Jon.

That is absolutely bloody lovely!

This may well be of interest to you, it's steam not CI but a lovely thing. The photo was taken in the mid thirties and the engine single handedly powered an entire woolen mill in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. That's my Grand Father who looked after and ran the engine.

My Dad used to have to bar it over onto the power stroke every morning from the age of 8. Seemingly it was a pig to turn as it was in constant connection and God help him if he scratched it.

Santa Pod last year, group of us UK Chrysler 300C owners met up from everywhere - afraid I'm a sucker for American motors since my dad had a '66 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible back in '76 - loved that car!

It kind of set a precedent... :)

that is awesome! I can respect someone wanting to put that much effort into building a car to that level.... I'm sure a few round here can understand the desire to get the most out of the equipment related to thier hobby
comparison with the veyron is a little daft though, 1/4 mile speed isn't everything after all!!

Is that the Brabus smart?

It's a bit madder than a Brabus.

Folk have been doing them for a few years now.

Them there Chryslers don't 'arf remind me of the old Rover P5.:)

Edit: Not surprising really:-http://www.300cforums.com/forums/european-diesel-powered-300-models/36245-lookalike-300c-rover-p5.html.

well Ralph, apart from my Dad's Oldsmobile influence, after he sold it, and we moved to Norwich, guess what our new neighbour had - yep, P5B Coupe - loved the car then - hadn't consciously made the connection, but now you mention it...

I'm very lucky - the 300C is my dream car, I really couldn't think of a (modern) car I would rather have. (Oh, apart from a Land Rover Defender, - I'm doubly lucky!)

Hi John,

Although steam is not my passion We had a club visit to Kew steam museum last year, the engineering is very impressive, there is nothing like a bigun up and running, so quiet so elegant

Is that the Brabus smart?

Naah, it'll be a Smartuki hybrid. The Brab is fun, especially when remapped (as mine was) but nowhere near as insane as that!

Came by this one recently too, the legendary Reliant Robin!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeJs_WpVfZo&feature=related

For our Americans the Reliant was made out of fibreglass with 3 wheels. They were interesting to drive as every pothole in the road hit a wheel, and a nightmare to work on. You would get glass rash and be scratching at your arms for days after the simplest of jobs.

Cornering had to be very well thought out as this bloke finds out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiB9N2nTimE&feature=related

Some people get very good at it. I knew a pair of lads who raced formula 2 sidecars and they could get round corners at speed. They found out the police take a very dim view of the passenger being hung out of the open door on left hand bends though. This lot would understand fully.........

Then there's this.
