This is a great sounding pre-amp which has served me well during my time with it. Bought from a nice chap nicknamed "Diceman" on the Wam a couple of Scalfords ago. Here is some of his original advert to explain the technical details :
Lovely linestage pre-amp this and uses decent chokes on PSU, BHC Aerovox PSU caps + Ansar Supersound Polyprop caps in PSU and in output. Alps motorised volume control and relay switching of input and record out.
6 inputs plus tape loop and remote controls volume, source and mute. Comes with 2x RCA ecc82 and 2xCVC ecc83 valves and trimmer pots on the PCB allow you to bias them! Unusual for a pre-amp! The remote will also turn it off but leaves it in standby with the valve heaters still operating so it's ready to go and warmed up as soon as you switch on. A very well thought out design. Case is not full width and circa 35cm Wide instead of the regular 44cm.
This has really taken some beating and replaced a Pass DCB1, Musical Fidelity F22 valve pre and Aikido copper amp. I have now replaced it with a modified SJS Arcadia valve pre-amp which gives a little extra of the magic fairy dust (as others call it) or nice colouration over the Morgan Audio. The main quest to change my pre-amp was instigated as I needed a low gain/no gain pre to run into a modified Leak Stereo 20 and the Morgan provides normal levels of gain.
The original designer/builder is still around and can service/upgrade and is very happy to assist when I have spoken with him. There is some minor marking on the chassis where the paint has come off the aluminium chassis which I have endeavoured to picture.
Diceman, to be honest, sold this to me for a little less than I'm asking but I feel that the price still represents extremely good value. I am asking £400 plus insured carriage if required
