View Full Version : M44-7 vs M55e
I have a spare M44-7 cartridge body and just wondered what the difference was between this cartridge and the M55e. Is it just cartridge output?

m44/7 is very high output(9.5mv), and with its own stylus a bit lower vtf..1.5g i think. it should take a m55 stylus tho

Why not try your NEO SAS stylus on the M44 and you might get more output through the MM stage using the M44. Possibly a cartridge combo which amplifies some of the more hidden details in your vinyl. I've played around with gain in the past and it's a very useful (and free) method of hearing more from your vinyl if you get the right combo.

Good Idea. I have just been reading a few posts which seem to suggest that the M44-7 was actually a better "engine" than the M55e but was this just because of its higher output or was the cartridge actually better constructed inside. I will try the SAS stylus in it sometime soon.
