Hi Guys
Nice day today, so my wife and I decided to go for a walk. We usually like to walk along a local coastal path, but its closed at the moment for renovations. so we went to a local forest park. We had a lovely walk and sat for awhile under the trees looking out across Strangford lough.
We were gone from our car for about 45 minutes give or take a few minutes. On are way down the hill to the car park which boarders a busy road I noticed a car like ours parked badly. As we reached the bottom of the hill, I suddenly realized with horror that it was our car. It had been moved by a good 4 car lengths and was now sitting very oddly, near the slight embankment at the edge of the main road. After a few minutes of thinking about this and wondering if the brakes had failed, it became obvious that was not the case (the car park is fairly level)as the front driver side, just where the wheel arch and indicator light is was stoved in. It looked like someone with a size 9 boot had kicked the side of the car in.
So what happened ? No one we spoke to could say what had happened..no one had seen anything. "It was like that when we arrived" they all said. My thoughts were that someone had perhaps tried to steel the car, and had been disturbed, and taken their frustration out by kicking the side of the car, before they made their escape.
The park ranger, thought it was an attempted theft...so we called the Police. 30 minutes later they arrived, they too could not offer any real explanation for what had happened.."a real mystery !" :scratch:
The Police were great they arrived fairly quickly, but sadly they could do little for us, as there was no sign of anything odd except the car had moved, and the front side damage. If the breaks had failed and our car had hit, or been hit, one would think that on our return we would have been greeted by the police and the victims of our cars moving by itself. But no, just our wee car sitting where we had not left it.
So the Police gave us an incident number, that we can use with the insurance company + we took photos before the Police arrived, and that's that :(
All very odd and leaving us with A a mystery and B a repair to a car that an hour before had been perfect:(
