I have a pair of Goodmans Mezzo Loudspeakers as a whole which in amongst the rest of my stuff, I was lining up for sale at some point.

I haven’t played them for a while - this post reminded me to have another listening session with them. I remember they sounded incredibly infectious.

I believe like a capacitor the resistance will increase as it ages and dries up :)

Its was one of these on the original Mezzo I believe: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seas-H-087-1-Dome-Tweeter/302597404854?hash=item467435f8b6:g:mZoAAOSwQiFaVgV i

That's the 8 ohm version. The Mezzo may use the 4 ohm type, not sure. It should be marked on the drive unit. There are 4 ohm ones on ebay too. I think those might be H-086 model. I've had loads of these variants. Sold them off though.

The later Mezzo SL had a Philips tweeter. Nasty 'zingy' thing.

If they look like this, then it's the Philips unit. The only ones I've seen have been 4 ohm. Had a few pairs of those too.

Will take the back off the speaker and see if the tweeter is marked in any way

That's the early Mezzo from the late sixties. Superseded around 1970 if I'm right. Those vinyl surround Goodmans cone tweeters were amongst the best sounding of their type, better than the EMI, Peerless and Audax, etc. The occasional one crops up on ebay, but not that often. Best measure the impedance to match a replacement. Not certain, but I think those were usually a nominal 8 ohms and should measure 5 to 6 ohms DC.

These speakers sound awesome

I picked them up last year as someone pointed them out in a Bargains on ebay therad , I just stored them away until recently and out of curiosity wired them up with some skinny gutted door bell type speaker cables and boy O boy they really do rock , Amazing detail epic clarity , good bass , epic soundstage , bloody hell
