Can anybody advise if it is or recommended to solder a broken tonearm cable.

I have discovered one of fine silver wires on my spare 774 arm tube has snapped. Now I'm sure I can carefully solder it but will this have any effect on the sound?

Are there any recommendations on how to dress the 4-5cm of cable where it exits the arm tube and plugs into the base?

Wrap the wire gently around a phillips screwdriver to form a loose spiral. That should do the trick.
