I'm Alan from Edinburgh and I have several thousand posts at Hifiwigwam as Musicbox (though hardly go there nowadays) and thousands at Pinkfish where I mainly lurk around the classical forum.

System consists of an Oppo HA-1 Dac/pre-amp/Headphone amp feeding a Lyngdorf SDA 2175 power amp then into 35-year old KEF 103.2s, which have seen off many modern speakers.

I also have a pair of broken Event Opals which were fantastic until they broke. And a pair of Wilmslow Audio Mercury standmounts which I built 10 years ago.

Front ends are a Technics 1210 -> Benz Glider-> Ortofon Verto SUT-> Dynavector P75.
Sony SCD XA5400ES SACD player
Liv Zen Oppo Vortexbox

Music choice is mostly all forms of Classical, and Rock

Still hunting for my ideal speakers, seen something in the classifieds here so that's why I'm posting!.... can I send PM's yet?

Hi Alan :)

You need 5 posts to use the PM system, I think.

You could easily make that number up by disagreeing with my choices in the classical music section!

Welcome. :thumbsup:

Disagreeing with Jerry's classical choices - that could get me into triple figures pretty quick! :lol:

Actually been quite enjoying some of your late wigwam recommendations Jerry - those Chandos Gregson discs were very enjoyable.

Hi Alan. Welcome from me too.

Just join in the banter and have fun, it's a friendly place.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Nice to see someone into Classical and Rock like me, many (like my old music teacher at school!) think they are incompatible.

I think there's a bit of a parallel.... I like Big Noisy Rock and Big Noisy Classical - Mogwai/Zep/Muse/Radiohead vs Mahler/Bruckner/Shostakovich/Beethoven.... I think there's quite an equivalence!
