View Full Version : Wot you snackin' on, greedy guts?
OK.......so typical of me, I wolfed all the decent snacks yesterday and can't be arsed to shop on New Years Day. Anyone else enjoying a good snack. Come on! Make us all jealous :D

The Mini Mazipan or Apple Stollen and the Lebkucken biscuity cakes from Aldi...Lovely and only fifty pence or something. Ive started to wander into Aldi looking for treats.
I can highly recommend their Port and Stilton crisps.... :)

I don't snack often, but I had a bag of Walker's salt and vinegar Square Crisps earlier. I like those, even if the bag contents are ridiculousy stingy.
I WANT a Greggs mince pie! Actually I want two or three, but I'd never admit that in public

Good grief. Sounds very odd.
All I have left are the green and yellow jelly babies from a bag I opened yesterday. Mingin' compared to black or red ones, they really are the ginger step-children of the jelly baby world. Still, I guess they will have to do til tomorrow.

That reminds me
Whats the difference between men and jelly babies ?

The nice cheeses are gone now but I'm making pretty good headway into the Quality Street https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180101/3915a58cdf6310043bddc1a187ee75f3.jpg

Evening my lovely fat friends.
I'm having a couple Sainsbury's Blueberry Mini muffins.
S.
Twiglets
Pickled Herring (not rollmops) with crispbread
Blue cheese like Cambazola and Stilton
Don't laugh, but.... A rice cake :eek::eek:
Git on the scales this morning and decided it was time for the annual New Years Resolution diet. See if I can last a week this year.

You eat those? I thought they were for isolating turntables.
If you eat proper, healthy and filling meals, then you don't need to snack on shite in between them! ;)
Marco.

By tomorrow I will probably be trying that. Anything will be better than eating them!

So called 'Healthy' foods are often anything but.
Rice cakes can have a highish salt content unless you seek out no salt types (which taste like blotting paper). Wholemeal and granary bread can be similarly adulterated. Cereal bars are often full of sugar, flavour enhancers and preservatives. Packet cereals are just as bad. Frozen 'lo cal' ready meals are not a healthy option, they are generally dreadful, check out the ingredient lists.
this is what you top rice cakes with

I'm talking about home-cooked food, Geoff - when *you* know exactly what's gone into what you're eating, and therefore by definition is healthy [provided you've used healthy ingredients] :)
Folk eat way too much junk food/snacks these days, to the often severe detriment of their health...
Marco.
My biggest mistake is waiting until I'm hungry before thinking about making food. By that time I just grab whatever is to hand (usually crap) because I can't wait. I do go through phases of eating well, but Winter is often my downfall.
At least the rice cakes are the "blotting paper" variety and topped only with a slice of decent cheese.

Sounds like a waste of good cheese to me. ;)

I must admit that I am bone idle when it comes to cooking food. I have several very good recipe books but Ive never really used them :)
I dont know who runs a Mary Berry style kitchen but I cant be arsed. I like to slap things in a fish finger sandwich and I am constantly snacking which is why the middle aged spread has got out of hand. I know I would enjoy a lovely home cooked recipe but just feel life is too short. I just get something basic and return to pottering around with projects or chilling out
Sainsburys has got my baking covered with the muffins and cheese baguettes. I can snack all day on olives and sweet picked gherkins...must be sweet pickled as the other standard vinegar is horrible.
I am a snacker and I dont know when to stop. Whats scary is how fast I can eat a slab of cheese and Im getting like Mr Creosote in that I dont know when to stop until I feel ill or ready to explode
Do you have a partner, Martin, or are you living on your own?
If the answer to the former is yes, then doesn't she (or he) cook? :)

Oh I think you know the answer to that with the above reply :) There are computer games to be played Marco and I cant have any nagging. I have my lady friends who do cook me a lovely meal when Im round. I dont think I would get away with my casual and lazy ways if there was more order in the kitchen. I wouldnt get away with the spaghetti junction behind the hifi for a start
Then again couples are both working now and I dont know who has the time to cook. I would like to come home to Nigella at the Aga but I dont really expect anybody to be cooking for me
Just had a few dates. Very seasonal and also really tasty.

I've always got dates on the go. Local shops sell some good varieties. Eat a few most days. Dried figs too sometimes and cranberries.

Thanks for the recommendation Grant, I love dates but have to be careful as they can upset my IBS. Intestinal Armageddon springs to mind.......
i find them fairly kind on my dodgy gut. very sweet so 1 a day for me. quite big tho. these are the ones folk in the know eat apparently.
I'll,seek them out Grant. Thanks for the tip. Dates, prunes, figs: I love them all and I'm trying to have more of those and less Mars Bars.
Now all I need to do is find an healthy alternative to Currys, Chillis, Pizzas and Kebabs.

Looks like a few 'stiffened stools' I popped down the pan earlier [and about as appetising]! :D;)

Unfortunately, Tesco prices for dried fruit are outrageous. You can buy a decent sized box full of Medjool dates in the Indian shops for a couple of quid.

Yesh, and you'll be severely punished (by Tabatha) next time you dare eat a turkey twizzler! :whippin::whippin:

Smoked bacon nicely grilled, George Foreman style! Washed down with a bottle of Stella.
