put some nylon washers under screw heads and you wont mark the shell.. very nice pressies

put some nylon washers under screw heads and you wont mark the shell.. very nice pressiesThanks grant, I'm a very happy bunny. The new headshell is for the Decca. It likes the extra weight so I'm gonna give it another run. They have included some nice wishers so they will be used!
The cable has imo is a little more transparent so a great investment.

I like it a lot. Not much in it between the one you have and this so it'll do me for some time to come.

Nothing this year, but I have made a resolution for next Christmas. I'm buying myself an Accuphase amp. I'll be buying used but it will still take me a good while to get the cash together, so I may as well start now.

I done alright.
Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks on Vinyl, Vol 1 & 2. Grate songs but I think these were mastered for those cheap turntables that you can by in HMV, Argos, etc. A bit warm in the bass and the treble has been tamed. A bit of a shame, but still an enjoyable listen.
Stealers Wheel self titles album. I had a copy but it has a scratch. My wife found an early pressing in excellent condition.
Youngest daughter bought me Long Strange Trip - Grateful Dead - 3 CD set.
Mother bought me a new copy of The Wall as my old one was a bit cracklely.
Combines with the World Selection of Whittards coffee my oldest daughter bought me and the bottle of cognac I bought myself...

I Had half a days help from my daughter tidying up the other end of my listening room , LP All re sorted and back in the huge IKEA rack instead of being on the floor :doh:
Must make a effort to keep it tidy :christmas:

Quite different, more "analogue"? More musical, detailed, wider soundstage.

This Jolida has upgraded output caps, and a choice of valves, currently Siemens .

When I had a jolida it would lose the plot if I switched on my phonostage, a pop through the speakers and I would have to start the laptop again to get the Jolida to see it again. Other than that it was very nice.
So anyway I got rid of that empty cardboard box and my wife sent me to the HiFi shop [emoji4]
And I came back with this >

[emoji106]I was going to buy the integrated version but the power amp was second hand and much cheaper and in silver which I wanted, ok losing our a headphone section but my SEG has headphone out. They offered me a deal with the Pre Amp but the pre wasn't discounted enough for me to bite so I only bought the power and I'll add a Pass DCB1 pre to see how that sounds. Mind you sounding pretty decent with the Promitheus TVC [emoji6]

Most active pre-amps will struggle to match the Promitheus for sound quality and no regular passive is likely to come near. You might get lucky with the Pass though, try before you buy if you can Mike.

Bought myself a few bits, well, a few home upgrades for the family... :D
* New ASRock J4205 motherboard for the media server + Windows 10
* M.2 WiFi / Bluetooth Card & antennae for the media server, finally going wire-free in 2018, WiFi is stable enough for me now - as I use a USB front-end with a dedicated power supply am not paranoid about possible noise issues in the server. ;)
* BT Whole Home Wifi - now the daughter has full-speed broadband in her room, and we have range out to the back yard. You just connect it to your router
* Spare TDA1541A chip as I finally found one of the 'Taiwan' editions that were made in the late 90s (better manufacturing)
Look forward to setting it up. :)
Treated myself by upgrading from the DAC I Signature to the DAC II Special from SW1X. I will stick up a review when I have time.
As I said in an e mail to Slawa this morning "It’s like the pretty teenager (DAC 1 Signature) has blossomed into a beautiful lady."
