Pair of NOS SIEMENS F2a’s. These are rare as hen’s teeth. All original packaging. I purchased these as spares when I owned a Shindo F2a Power amp 10 years ago. I have never used them. Serial numbers; 153075/153084. These have a predicted lifespan of 50000 hours. If you need more pics, just pm me an email. Price is £250, including RMSD to a UK address. Thanks for looking.

I have looked at the F2a in the past for certain applications - it's certainly a premium valve. However, why the reference to the 300B ? It's an indirect heated pentode - more like a premium KT88 than anything else.

Hi Mark.

The reference is with regard to the musical presentation, similar to 300B though in my experience, the F2a has more ‘get up and go’ and for want of better expression, ‘atmosphere’. Sounded wonderful in my Shindo amplifier - why did I ever sell it!!

Ah, OK. So does the Shindo use them as pentodes or triode-strapped ?
I'll have a look if I get chance.

F2a’s are Tetrodes I believe.

Of course, you're correct ... but they still work in pentode mode ;o)

Bit of a thread drift going on... These are superb valves if you need them, and if so then a matched NOS pair of impeccable provenance are easily worth the asking. Bear in mind that telecommunications valves like this will never ever be made again, and if they ever were faked could only be a shadow of the original, as the materials and machinery would never match up.
They aren't like 300b, they are at least equal performance wise, and massively superior design-wise. The pinnacle of 60s tech.

Thanks for your thoughts James. I bought this pair from a London valve dealer (can’t remember his name) maybe 12 years ago, along with a pair of Western Electric 300B’s.

Now withdrawn.

Pardon my ignorance but could these be used in place of 300b ?

Hi Martin, to my knowledge, Shindo make a Cortese power amp as either a 300B or F2a variant but valves are not interchangeable. Thoress of Germany do the same 300B and F2a variants.

BUMP. This very RARE pair of Siemens F2a’s have laid dormant in a cupboard for 14 years. TBH, they’re definately too cheap @ £210.00. Mmm.

Have you advertised them on DIY Audio or AA Tube DIY sections ? Seems like you need to find the right person. I wish I had an immediate use for them, as they are rather special.

Tried these here for long enough at an incredibly low price. Time to finally withdraw and sell elsewhere. Thanks for looking though. Over and out!
