Croft Micro 25R Line Out

Hello,
I would like to know what usually can be connected to the Line Out of a Micro 25R.

My intention is to connect a Headphone amplifier (Beyerdynamic A2).

Could I do it ?

Used to have a Micro 25 and this was the note I got from decoaudio when I asked what 'line out' was for (although I never used those sockets).

'Sorry, I should have added a note about that as Croft don't do user
manuals - 'Line out' is a fixed output intended for headphone amplifiers or
cassette decks (many brands label this as 'record out') which bypasses the
volume controls, the 'Out' is what you want to connect to your power
amplifier as it is volume controlled.'

yes same here....only used out sockets, but right now they are all usedand the only option is line out, which is good anyway. :)

You don't want to connect anything that has a low input impedance.

This output isn't buffered so I would say 50K ohms minimum, preferably 100K. Do you know the input impedance of your headphone amp?

I will admit that a number of years ago on connecting my first Croft pre I used line out. It was an error I never repeated and I'm happy to say my speakers lived to tell the tale. I've never confessed to that before !

Yes man, I did exactly the same and it immediately tripped the protection on my Audiolab monoblocks.

When trying a 'line out' connection, it might be wise to insert a stereo pot at minimum setting between the line out and whatever is to be tried with it. A passive pre-amp will do the same.

It depends what the 'spec's' were when the Amp was built. Glenn makes them all to order and if a 'buffered' Line Out has been asked for then he does add a Valve Buffer stage.

I thought the fixed line out would allow the Croft 25 to be used as a phono stage into a line input on another (presumably line only) pre amp.
Is that wrong?
