Guys, I'm selling some of my kit ot make room for some new projects. I currently have a NOS modded Marantz CD50 on ebay at the moment but I will be selling some other kit over the next couple of weeks. I'm likely to remove some of the more expensive mods before they hit ebay as the 'bits' often sell for more on their own! However.........

If you are potentially in the market for a mild or seriously modded CD63 between £100 and £250 (obviously dependant on what mods sat behind) let me know. I'm open to discussion on what's left in the player!!!

I also have a mildly modded Philips CD850MKII (which I've owned from new) and another that a pal brought at the same time as mine! Mine has a few simple mods but the other in untouched! Again I'm open to offers

Also coming up is a std Meridian 207 Pro (2 box player) which is in near mint condition. I'm just finishing of a replacement interconnection lead at that will be up for offers too!

I'm having a clearout becuase the misses says I have too many players! and I'm starting work on another DAC. :o

Please PM me if you may be interested in any of the kit. I'll obviously be fair with price to members here! I'm away on business for a couple of days so I may not be able to answer until Friday. It depends how busy I am!!!!

Thanks, Ian

Hi Kirk, Not Raindrop!!!

I think i've got enough TDA stuff to be playing with! I had quite a lot of interest in that CD50 and somebody paid the asking price last night which to be fair was very good VFM! :)

1 down, about 5 to go!!!!:lolsign: I popped in to see Brent today, and he copied me the later eprom for the Meridian today so they are both on bug free firmware which is cool!

I'm a big fan of the Audio Aero Capitole CDP and it uses the AD1853 chip so thats next on my list. Ive got a 1st draft design and I'll be getting Lee at diyhi-fi.co.uk to etch me a couple of boards very soon! I've got the chips on their way too ;) should be interesting!!

hi, Ian, i used the lil' bro, the prima (mk2, last batch, w/ still the vam1201 mech), for 2 years, and i must say it's a truly outstanding machine! also heard the capitole, and the price difference is not just by mistake - though both are from the same vein, no doubt :)

good luck for your project :)

Hi Ian,
Just wondering if you ever placed the Meridian 207 for sale? I'm another classic CD player fan with a few classic Marantz players but always wondered if the 207 Mk2 really had a double crown TDA1541A dac chip?

Hi, no such luck I'm afraid! I've got 2 of them and neither do :-( I purchased the 1st one believing it did (based on numerous internet sources inc lampizator and philipsmarantz.nl and both are wrong. Also the 207mkII service manual does not mention crown level dacs at all.

However, they are the best souding std TDA1541A players I have ever come accross. The op stage is full discrete and the use a servo to null DC offset on the output which is far better than using a DC blocking cap! Awesome players!!!
