FFS!.... its got to be a form of mental illness. Do you tube viewings pay that much? He's not the only one and there seems to be one born every minute.
I've often thought I'm a bit mad but I don't go with life threatening schemes like that. At what point did that seem like a good idea?
Crazy! Send him the bill as that's often what it takes to wake them up :)

A mention for the Police here. Derbyshire's Chief Constable has made an executive decision. This is idiotic if you ask me!

What do we get next, rock bands censured for not including an accordion player?
ALL rock bands must have equal amounts of women in them. women must also be allowed to use the gents toilet.

I'm all for gender equality, and it annoys me no end that I can pursue my career as a drag artist, while Mrs. P got laughed out of the door. :(
And I think she would be very good, and quite convincing.

Thing is if the choir continued to be associated with the police and women tried to join and were refused a news story about that probably would have been published and the police dragged down with it, due to their association. You cant win because the press always look for the spin they can put on a story.

It's still bollocks though. There has to be a point where common sense takes over surely? Not that there's much evidence of that these days. Far too much pandering to 'sensitivities' in my view.
Pigmy Pony

It's like the saying, "it's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil", and wheels don't come any squeakier than the campaigners for "equal rights" for gender, race, sexuality and anything else they can find to be indignant about.
The British press, particularly the 'tabloids' are very good at winding people up. Even the television companies (BBC and C4 I'm looking at you) aren't above stirring it up, they're just a bit more subtle.
None of us are immune to this, as can be seen by our reaction to these nonsense stories.
In times of war, we have a bunker mentality which gives us a common enemy to rail against, but in peacetime we don't have this, so we end up sniping at each other. It could be argued that the "war on terrorism" is a war of sorts, but doesn't count, as the enemy is a bunch of nutjobs hiding in plain sight.
Am I allowed to call them nutjobs? Or should I be saying freedom fighters, or disenfranchised individuals. I'm sure there will be a group of something or other ready to tell me what I should be calling them.
These champions for the "downtrodden" minorities are actually doing more harm than good by speaking up for people who probably never asked for their help, and trying to make the rest of us feel bad about ourselves.
Maybe they just need a bit more protein in their diet, and an office with a window.

They really should find her a job better suited to her skills. Serving in a chip shop maybe? Stacking warehouse shelves? Or would those be a touch too demanding?
Ninanina

Yes I heard this interview with DA last night
I can't stand the women and she is completely out of her depth; like you say a chip shop would be fine for her ;)
She does have a degree in History from Cambridge so she can't be as thick as she appears to be. Never had a proper job, though, so maybe that's part of it? Although that's true of most of the MPs these days I suspect.

Exactly what I thought!
I think they are absolutely right. Vegetarian cack should be labelled as such and be in a special ghettoised area of the supermarket so normal people don't have to see it. And you should have to register as a vegetarian with the police.
Not often I agree with the French but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

The French just don't do vegitarianism so this is no surprise to me whatsoever.
Their idea of a course in a restaurant is a few root vegetables on a plate and that's it.
Each to their own I suppose.

For instance if I fancy some 'beef curtains', or Mrs. P wanted a 'pork sword', we know we're not going to find them in the butcher's department in Morrisons.

Maybe when I retire and I've got time hanging heavy on my hands. At the moment it all goes straight in the bin. I cleared up a huge pile of it out of the porch just two weeks ago today and there is already another huge pile in there.
And don't get me started on the credit card and loan applications. They only seem to want to lend money to people who don't need to borrow money. How does that work?

I'm retired and I'm not that bored yet. Junk mail just sits on top of the meter cupboard in the porch, then gets added to the recycling bin on a Thursday. What's weird is that we're still getting junk mail addressed to the couple we bought the house from, twenty-five years ago.

So do I. 20 years I've been here and the last people still get mail. I saved it for them for the first couple of years, there was a carrier bag full. Then one day I spotted them visiting a neighbour down the road. You'd think they would knock on and see if there was any post for them but they didn't bother so I binned it all and still do.

I certainly do my share around the house and garden, though.

All junk mail is automatically binned (actually put in the paper recycling sack. And yes, I do remove those little cellophane 'windows' from the envelopes). What really pee's me off are the 'blow ins' inside magazines and newspapers. They get binned as well.
Returning unsolicited mail will do no good at all, IMO, as the sending companies are just too stupid to react: they have their routine and methods and they stick to them.
Yes, but it's a giggle thinking about the reaction of whoever opens the envelope, and also mildly satisfying knowing that you've sent them a small message of 'fuck you';)

Another person who hasn't a clue. https://metro.co.uk/2018/07/26/using-fan-bedroom-heatwave-bad-7760770/
This article about using fans to keep cool is rubbish. There are references to fans lowering temperature. This is nonsense. They actually raise it slightly.
They do keep you cool by circulating the air; they certainly don't lower the temperature, though!
I'll be switching my big fan on in a moment. The only way I can stay cool in this heat is by closing our (thankfully thick) curtains, to keep the sun out, and sitting with next to nothing on with the fan blowing cool air straight at me.
Thank goodness we have tiled floors! Later, if I'm feeling adventurous, I might venture outside [with clothes on:eyebrows:] and sit in the shade under a large parasol, with an ice-cold beer.
Marco.
fans will cool you under normal circumstances, due to evaporation of water, which leaves the remaining water cooler. but when indoor air temperatures are hotter than about 95 °F, a fan may cause your body to gain heat instead of lose it. On very hot, humid days, sweat evaporates off the skin slower than normal, and fans make it even more difficult for the body to lose heat by sweating. It’s important to stay hydrated and use other means. you can also use ice in front of fan, which will cool air like a air con.
I saw a man on TV that collected all his junk mail, all his neighbors and family gave him theirs, and he had a machine that turns it all into fire wood! He heats his house for free every winter, burning nothing but junk mail.

And what's this remission for good behaviour nonsense? If you don't behave, you should get more time.
Prison should be harsh. No TV or PC, no games room, the food should be the cheapest and only the minimum. They should definitely be forced to work, just starve the buggers until they do and give trouble makers hard labour and solitary confinement. It should be such a horrible experience, none will want to return!

I agree, prison should be harsh! And it would be far cheaper to give someone 5 years that they may not live through, than 40 years of pampering. Only for them to get out in 15 for good behavior. How can anyone hope to be reformed if they’ve got a 40 year sentence? The fear of a hard sentence would be more of a deterrent than a long leisurely sentence, that may be cut short.
And there should definitely be no gangs, sex, drugs, or any illegal shenanigans behind bars! Too many turning a blind eye to what goes on inside.

The worst thing about prison. and indeed the main deterrent for not going there in the first place, is your loss of freedom and separation from your family/loved ones. For anyone who's not a seasoned criminal, with a normal life otherwise, *that* is the main punishment, and likely why it wasn't much of a 'holiday' for the folks you've mentioned above, regardless of TVs and games rooms.
Others, however, who have no such normal lives and no families, are often happy to go 'inside' [indeed will often commit crimes precisely with that intention], as essentially they get free lodging/entertainment, and the opportunity to hang out with others in the same position, so in general, see it as a bit of a 'jolly'.

I appeared there as a witness for the defence. My mate was facing a charge of armed robbery. They banged him up! (well he did do it :))
Same thing happened with another mate at the local crown court. Same charge, same result.

I'm talking about seasoned criminals! Two of them did time for murder (although one did get his reduced to manslaughter on appeal). The others were mostly robbery or drugs. One was GBH but he got it quashed on appeal. The beak in the original trial made a grave error of judgement.
My favourite story is one where the mate in question was caught with about 2 pounds of cocaine in a sealed jar. It took about 12 months before he went to trial, the brief had already told him that he was not going to get away with anything less than a 5 year stint even if he threw himself on the mercy of the court.
Then they brought the evidence out and the jar full of cocaine had next to nothing left in it, just a little residue at the bottom. Mate said he was so happy when he saw that he almost had a heart attack right there in the court. He got slung and the judge gave the cops and the CPS a right bollocking.

Ah, but those have always gone on.
I had numerous civil engineering contractors working for me. They tried it on, thinking I was green around the gills, but I'd spent many years doing their work hands on myself, I knew every little wrinkle and soon put them back on the road to righteousness! :D
I was having a road resurfaced and suspected the contractor was fiddling the aggregate, so I took a bit-mac sample and instead of sending it off to the lab, like the other engineers would have done. I took a handful, washed it in turps and poured vinegar on it. It started fizzing. The contractor had substituted limestone for the specified granite aggregate. He argued the toss of course, but I did the same demo in front of him and he gave in and re-did the work (at his cost of course). :)

In my experience all the contractors working on our sites were ONLY concerned about their profit, they would do whatever possible to inflate it too !! That’s why I resigned, well the contractors were paying for our contract managers holidays and weekends away ( including a fully paid weekend in Amsterdam) with ALL the trimmings ( if you know what I mean [emoji16])

Fair enough, but they would've probably had a life on the outside then (family, kids, etc), as many who don't, are often more than happy to be imprisoned....

Don't quite get that... Surely the fact that he was caught with it in the first place, with no doubt plenty of police witnesses, was evidence enough of the crime having been committed? The fact that some negligent arses 'lost' the drugs in the interim, before the case coming to court, is surely immaterial?:hmm:
Besides, I'm sure that with some, erm, 'creative thinking', they could've 'found' some more cocaine to refill the jar, and the accused would've been none the wiser!;)
Marco.

It always amazes me the way they build new dwellings 'inside out': a timber frame and chipboard/plasterboard inner 'wall', with an outer brick façade, which doesn't appear to be load bearing. Anyway, with a lot of new-builds being erected on flood plains, there are always problems with settlement and cracked walls etc.
All done for cheapness. The roof trusses are made of the thinnest of wood, relying on a multiplicity of them in order to support the weight of the roof, thereby restricting useful loft space. My parents' 1960s bungalow (which usually have larger roofs) had its roof supported by two massive triangular trusses using 4" square timbers: allowing lots of useful loft space. Not so my place - there are so many 'stringers' (to stop the roof 'doing the splits') placed at crotch level, it makes moving about inside the roof very difficult and greatly discourages storing anything there.

IME I've never met anyone who was happy to go to prison.
Re the other: Not how it works. If the cops went up on the stand and testified that the jar was originally full of drugs when they seized it they would have to explain what had happened to them whilst it was in their custody. That wasn't going to happen so with no evidence and no witnesses it was end of trial.

I sort of feel sorry for Angela Wang, making a living from pandering to the whims of the shallow, self-obsessed "me too" generation. So I feel a little bit bad saying that it would have to be a pretty big coffee mug to fit that face on it. Catty!
Youngsters today love that sort of crap.
Poor bastards - they've got no good music, no good films or tv shows, no counter-culture, they don't smoke, hardly drink, don't touch drugs, obsessed about what they eat, obsessed about how they look. In twenty years time they'll start regretting having such a bland, buttoned-down life when they were young and have massive, cataclysmic mid-life crises. Should be a laugh if we are still around to see it.

The media in the US are hell bent to prove that all cops are racist. You can tell from the tone of this article that the fact she was white and he was black was more important than any of the other facts in the case. All I see is that she was extremely stupid and had no business being a cop! And there is no way to prove whether she would have shot if the man was any other color. I’m guessing she would have, being so drunk she didn’t know where she was! This case is big news in the US right now, splattered over every channel and paper. If you had footage of a cop beating a white guy you couldn’t give it to a news outlet, but footage of a black guy getting beaten will fetch you a heathy sum!

'A man, aged in his 30s, who lives in the area and asked to remain anonymous, witnessed the collapse.
He said it had been "extremely loud" with dust being kicked up "everywhere".
"There were a lot of people coming out of their homes in the surrounding area to see what was going on... It was quite bad, really surreal," he said.'
Well he was certainly worth talking to, painted such a vivid picture.
16 million quid house gone just like that. Difficult insurance claim coming.
What would it cost to build an exact replica in its place? A lot less than 16 million. Mine would cost more to rebuild than it's worth.

Think you may be correct - not much debris above ground level

A certain type of property developing in London is happening a lot, and is probably what is happening here: Not allowed to build upwards, no space to extend horizontally, so the only option is to build down.
I saw a TV programme about it recently, some of these residences have multiple below-ground storeys, with gyms, swimming pools, home cinemas, usually commissioned by people with too much money and not much sense. It's their neighbours I feel sorry for, their foundations are also compromised. One old dear that was spoken to showed the giant cracks that were growing on the internal walls of her house, but so far had no luck tracing the "new neighbour", whom she has never seen.
Even some sink holes have been found to be the result of this.
These folk are using the streets of the more affluent parts of London as their own giant Monopoly board, and need to be held to account, if they can be located.

:D You're probably right - I used them to keep the wheel trims on my old car, worked a treat. Definitely need to be bigger than that.
I'm intrigued by the way the parapet is still there, whereas the rest of the house has collapsed.
Out of interest, legally how far does one's property extend below ground level?

There will come a point where you could be charged with "Procurement of magma".
All magma belongs to the Queen, same as with swans.
I expect there's a steel beam through it.
That's what I thought, but I doubt if one was fitted when the terrace was built.

Well in law all land in the UK ultimately belongs to the Monarch.
When it comes to 'owning' the land beneath the dwelling, if minerals are found you do not have any rights to them: thus if a coal seam runs under your property you have no mining rights to extract the coal.
But I'm interested in how far down you can claim the land is yours. There must be a finite limit, otherwise the London Underground or Cross Rail would need you permission to dig the tunnels. So is it 20', 50' or more? Some of the subterranean redevelopment of properties can involve three levels, so that would extend 26' or more below ground.
Likewise there must be a limit to how far above your property you have rights.
I read somewhere that it is 3 feet down. But that may not be correct.

Must be different to how it is in the USA then - I remember Ged Clampet doing very nicely after finding oil on his property.
I doubt that the space above your property would be a matter of rights, though I expect any planning applications would be rejected on safety grounds or because of the visual impact on the area. At the very least you'd be made to put a big red light on top so as to avoid aircraft strikes.

You're not even allowed to keep the rain that falls on your land in some US states, as that deprives water companies of an asset.

Interesting, you have reminded me of a trip to Greene King brewery in Bury St Edmunds that I went on many years ago. I am sure that I was told that even though they have their own bore hole for water, they still have to pay water rates.

Some stunners in this one
Investigators told the inquest that the warning label above the window, a yellow sticker with the words: ‘Caution do not lean out of window when train is moving’, was not a sufficient deterrent
Yes, not at all clear what that means. Easy to misinterpret it as 'Please do stick your head out as far as you can.'
Later, Miss Hagland told police in a statement that by the time they caught the train they were not “drunk or disorderly”.
“We’ve all had a quite a few drinks but we are used to drinking like that.
“We had all sobered up by then and drunk ourselves sober,” she told officers.
drinking yourself sober being an actual real thing of course.
Miss Roper, from Penarth, South Wales worked for the Welsh Refugee Council charity and was chairwoman of Young Socialists Cardiff.
There's a partial explanation. Wasn't aware that there were refugees from Wales now. Although it's perfectly understandable that people would want to flee from Wales and start a new life somewhere else I didn't realise it was actually happening and they have a council for it.

I do feel a bit bad that Wales is used as a unit of measurement in a negative way, such as "an area the size of Wales is being deforested every year" or "Every year the Arctic loses sea ice the size of Wales" or "The food we throw away each day would feed Llandudno for a year".
Some of that may not be factually accurate, but I've seen no evidence to disprove it.
I have read that if we threw away more food then we could feed Colwyn Bay as well. But people just won't make the effort these days.
I'm surprised Marco hasn't encountered any of these refugees when he's out in the Brabster. Clogging the roads and impeding his progress, with their pathetic belongings balanced on handcarts.
Or are they more the sort of refugees who turn up on boats, or who've got over the Berlin Wall? I suppose in this case it would be Offa's Dyke. I always wondered what the point of that was.

 Choked on my cornflakes! Thanks for that.
Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Manic street Preachers, and many others, all come from Wales. But when did you last hear of anyone going to Wales, apart from Marco? I'm surprised there's anyone left, no wonder he enjoys such quiet roads when out in t' Brabster :)
Perhaps Mr. Drakeford could set up a scheme incentivising the people to have more kids, to get the numbers back up. If he drafted his proposal in Welsh he may just get it through.
I don't know. More Welsh children, more potential Welsh refugees. The Welsh Refugee Council might not be able to cope. Then they're coming to us with their hands out.
Lol, very good, chaps!:D

That's because so many of the people have become refugees and fled the country. Talk to the Welsh Refugee Council. It's a big problem and no-one is doing anything about it. There's not even been an article in The Guardian.

The WRC will remain ineffective as long as they just continue to bleat about the problem. They need to get the army onside (Oi! stop your singing and get your rifles!)
Because I think what is needed is a sheep cull. Sheep are better equipped to cope with the harsh winters, what with all that wool, than the fleecically-challenged indigenous population. Resulting in their numbers increasing exponentially. It wasn't too bad when they stayed on the hills, but now they're moving into the towns.
We once got pally with a Welsh couple while holidaying in Malta, and they predicted it would become a real problem in North Wales due to the lack of proper birth control. He also said that they are taking all the best jobs, and that they are colonising huge chunks of urban Wales. These areas were proving difficult to police as the sheep all look the same, complicated further by the widespread use of counterfeit ear tags. And at the weekend these woolly ghettos have become no go areas.
My Welsh holiday buddy wasn't too bothered himself though, he was from Cardiff :)

It seems these folk think that looking young is the be all and end all. Without realising that often young people can be ugly as f__k.
As these "procedures" become more affordable, they are becoming more and more commonplace. Thankfully not to that degree, but I fear it is a slippery slope and can lead to a body "dismorphia" (or a word similar to that).
I count myself lucky as I have had a face like a dropped pie for most of my life, and am quite used to it :)

Firstly, I don't know who the fuck they are - some Z-list celebs?:hmm:
However, bloody hell, what a freakin' mess right enough... They've turned into aliens!!:spew:
Best tips for staying looking young involve NO surgery or make-up whatsoever:
1) Drink lots of water.
2) Get lots of sleep.
3) Eat healthily - DO NOT smoke!
4) Avoid stress.
5) Exercise regularly/get plenty of fresh air.
6) Feel genuinely fulfilled/happy and contented with life, and so more prone to smiling than frowning.
Job done, then let just nature take its course!:)

7) Embrace your failing eyesight - I look great in the mirror when I haven't got my glasses on
Lol - good one!:D
Also... Embrace the FACT that 'the look' you had in 1975, when you were 25 (e.g long hair and/or biker's jacket, tattoos), makes you look like a TOTAL TIT at 65!!
And, if you've clearly put on weight (and/or have a protruding beer belly) ENBRACE REALITY, and stop trying to squeeze into the same size of trousers you wore 15 years ago, by wearing them further and further down your waist, towards your feet!:rofl:
Oh, and lose that hair dye!!
Nothing worse than an oldie in denial:doh:
Marco.
Spot on Marco - had a "no 2" (hair cut) for several years now, a sweep over or greying ponytail just isn't me.
Lol... Have you see those clowns in their 70s, etc, with lank, grey ponytails and big bald patches in the centre of their domes?:D:mental:
Get a fucking haircut, ya muppets!! And don't be in denial about yer bald patch. You're only accentuating it, by having what's left of your hair so long!
On the flipside though, what is it with youngsters now sporting big, bushy 'granddad beards', wearing 'granddad shirts', etc, and generally wanting to look three times their age? Jeezuz... When I was their age, I wouldn't have looked like that if you'd paid me!:nono:
It's NOT a good look, or particularly clever either, just because it's 'fashionable'. Take a good look in the mirror, 'trendy boys', and you'll see a TWAT staring back, so get the fuzz shaved off and wear something decent:exactly:
Marco.

There seems to be a standard 'uniform' that some guys adopt after the age of fifty, they aim to look like their grandads. I noticed on the recent TV series 'Secrets of The Transport Museum', that some of the older contributors wore tweed flat caps and tweed jackets, bet they didn't look like that at twenty. Everybody in the programme comes across as an 'anorak' type, but that's not surprising I guess, a bit like Hi-Fi in that way, go to an audiojumble and you'll see what I mean :D.

Guilty as charged on that one :o
Given my short haircut and bald patches I decide to wear a cap sometimes - so I went for a tweed one (a few years before peaky blinders). it was either that or a "baseball cap" and there is no way on earth that I would wear one of them.
Must get a new one. Daphne, my puppy, has destroyed my rather nice tweed flat cap, perhaps she was embarrassed by my wearing it :)
