Lovely, you can't fault the Caribbean. I'd go and live there if I could. What was Aruba like? Always wanted to go there as it's where my father grew up.

Aruba was probably my favourite, along with Barbados. Quite American with good shopping, ended up spending $7000 on Xmas presents... oh, and a Tag Monaco for myself [emoji6]

It’s given a good ‘taster’ of each place, will definitely go back to Aruba at some stage

I was amazed and impressed with how quickly ships passed through the lock system, even the 'Panamax' vessels.

In the original design they weren't going to have locks, the plan was just to cut straight through at sea level. Until someone realised how much digging that would involve.

Yes that was the original French plan. It was the Americans who suggested the lock system. Not only did it save a lot of digging it turned out to be better for the environment as well: the waters in the Pacific and in the Carribean Atlantic are different in constitution and in the fauna supported.
