View Full Version : Pioneer SA-408 broken pre-amp? Any advice?
I've recently discovered that the pre-amp on the left channel of my SA 408 doesn't seem to be working. I can hear music playing faintly from my left speaker, as you'd expect if you didn't have a pre-amp, and if I swap the cables around the problem switches speakers. I'm certain the cable isn't causing the problem and looking inside nothing seems too out of place. Has anyone got any advice? Because I'm completely stuck.
Thanks.
if you completely swap over cables that will eliminate the cable fault. ie not switching at one end but at both. if amp is faulty is should stay

Could just be dirty controls. Work all the switches and knobs back and forth a few times. Some switch cleaner could help.

Thought about this, I'll try and get in hold of some contact cleaner and report back.
