Some tube rolling is always fun.

Any suggestions for (not too pricey) el84 swaps for my LA Audio A-30 integrated amp?

I've had the amp for a few weeks now and I would say it isn't too far fetched to suggest it is a modern day Leak Stereo 20 (I've owned 2 ST20).

I am currently using a matched quad of JJ el84 and enjoying the forthright and well resolved sound.
Nothing too rosy and warm, please. ;)

Here's some info on the amp -- http://www.laaudio.com.tw/products_detail.php?id=34&lang=en

You'll have a tough time beating the JJs when it really boils down to it for anything like the money IMHO.

Change is as good as a rest though.

I use an Amperex in my guitar amp. Expensive but fab. Different job to do there though it needs to react well to being crucified.
