Only selling due to downsizing.

Amazing amp! 50 Watts per Chanel Class A, 200 per channel A/B

Stand alone Toroidal transformer costing £1000, connected by an Oriton AC3 cable costing £500, bringing the total cost to well over £3.500!

Balanced /unbalanced inputs

All steel remote.

Phenomenal sound!

Please be aware, this is one heavy combination with the Toroidy weighing in at 28kg on its own!

Collection preferable but I do have the original box for the amp, and would ensure the Toroidy was well packaged!

Cost in excess of £3.500

Looking for £900 OVNOhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171117/a2dc3446e9d3d0a0e6fa47ee6d53b15c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171117/11f2e1267fd714f41856ed857fde6002.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171117/18ab2e346f2a47f0d85ada569d972e1f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171117/8c884e9f11bdce130a39859e54607d39.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171117/93d298c95f69acccfe50c70774b84f4f.jpg

Could you explain a bit more how the toroidal feeds the amp as it looks like the amp power input expects 120/220/240v? In which case the internal PSU would need bypassing? I could be completely wrong of course.

No idea.

It just works.

And sounds great.:)

If you’re interested in the amp, let me know as delivery to London is possible for a small fee.

I suspect the external trannie is a step down for standard American voltage. At least that is what is implied in original listing.

The external transformer is indeed 240-110 step down, it’s outputs are fully balanced also, just like a standard balanced power supply this splits the overall voltage from 110v to 55v on live and neutral, which gained a step up in performance over a standard stepson. The torpid was custom built for this amp and is of the highest quality. I know this as I owned this amp First and commissioned the building of the transformer.

As I never installed an inrush device, which can be added easily, the way to get the amp up and running is to turn on the external supply without the amp connected and then add the amp, this negates the effects of inrush and allows for normal operation rather than the trip in the consumer u it blowing due to the inrush.

Dan, may I ask you for a few words as a reviewer, your thoughts on this amp?

Oh dear.
Do I need another amp? No, definitely not.
Am I lusting after this one? YES !!! :stalks:

Can you give dimensions of both units, Craig?
- and the approx weight of the amp.

Ta. :)

Hi Jerry,

Only just got in from a gig, so I’ll sort sizes and weight tomorrow.
I seem to recall seeing the weight of the Toroidy (that’s what it’s called) transformer is 28 kg on its own, but I’ll double check tomorrow.

Thanks Craig.

If the amp bit is lighter than the Toroidy, which I suspect it is, then don't worry about the weight of the amp.
Sizes are the important thing. :)

Edit: I'm humming and hahing over this, as you might have gathered - so if anyone else wants to slip in and grab this bargain, then go to it!

Really?

Thought I’d read that it was 28kg?

Maybe you should look at Bose, or B&O.

Not pretty enough?!
Cor - I think it looks fab.

Ah well, not everyone has good taste.

But .... impressive though the Kavent looks and doubtless sounds, I've just plumbed my Pass X150 amp in again after a couple of weeks.
And fallen in love with it all over again.
So, sorry Craig, I'm staying with the Pass.

Someone buy this lovely amp for a bargain price.

It's a bit of a bargain for a 50w class A (if that's correct). Looking at some internal pics online it's very very well constructed and must be heavily biased into class A for most of its range.

I have to say, I think this is gorgeous and that transformer is pure brute force!!!!

The "weekend reduction" has worked well for me in recent times. I hope you get a buyer.
