View Full Version : Amplifier with dac & remote
I just sold my Naim Unitiqute as I was not happy with the sound quality. I currently have a Nait 2 which I much prefer however I am looking for an amplifier with dac and remote control to replace the Unitiqute.
Not only it must sound good but I also take aesthetics in consideration so no massive jap amps (I also have one of those).
What are the options? Amplifier with dac or should I just go for a dac with remote + the Nait 2?

What exactly didn't you like from Unitiqute's performance ?

I did not think it matched the Nait 2.
In my opinion the Nait 2 injects more life into music especially a low volume which is how I listen most of the times.
The UQ also needs to be pushed hard to make my Usher S520 sing.

Primare I32 with MM30 dac/streaming board.
There's one here:

(Nothing to do with me ! Just so you can see what it does.)

The Rega Dac R is well within your budget. Solid DAC as well but ultimately that depends on your particular taste.

I also preferred the Nait (+ Sonos in my case) to the UQ, which I was underwhelmed by.
Eventually, I moved on from Naim and I now use a Peachtree decco, which I picked up for £350.
The Quad Vena would also tick all your boxes.
I've been researching this too and come across the Marantz HD-AMP1. All the reviews are very positive and its not a big box either.
If you really like the NAIT 2, then using a DAC with that seems to make the most sense.
However, you might also like to look at a Heed Obelisk Si with DAC card.
If you're prepared to broaden horizons a bit, then a Bel Canto C5i is a great little amp and DAC. Quite different from a NAIT, but you may well like it.
