Nad cd/dvd fixing help/part needed

i have a nad t562 dvd/cd player that has for about 6 years refused to open its draw... as it cost me a bloody fortune when i bought it new i am not particuly inclined just to put it in the bin (despite the very annoying crunching noise it makes whilst trying to open)
i have opened it and managed to remove the offending part which is a "panasonic DL1-DU5". i cant imagine for one minute that this was made specifically for nad so can anyone tell me if there is another dvd/cd player that i might pick up cheaply to butcher so as i could fix this NAD
alternativly has anyone got this particular spare bit they could let me buy off them?
its the whole laser mech draw thing bit ... :)

This is probably a silly question, but are you sure it's not just the drawer motor/belt?

Will a disc play if you place it directly on the platter or manually open/close the drawer?

Yeah it does play... I think.
There is a bit of a tale of woe and frustration behind this player.
I bought it new maybe 9 years back when I was more into my films with one of nads medium range ss amps and some my still in use dynaudio a42's. It actually made a very good stereo hifi ... As good as I wanted at the time anyway
then the draw started jamming years out of g'tee. The stress was caused when I took it into the shop and it worked fine, i asked them to send it to nad, which they did, it came back no fault found, they aparently cleaned it and lubed it up... I took it home and had no problems or maybe a month then the problem came back - intermitantly at first but then it jammed completely, just makinging the same rummbley crunching noise every time I tried to open it.. The cd inside played fine, but I couldn't change it.
I then took it to the shop, where it worked fine, took it home broken, back to the shop fine again ... I lived quite close by so I did this to the point it was a joke. It eventually did it in the shop so they sent it off for me... Came back no fault found, back to mine broken... By this time I was pissed off and bought a yamaha 1500 ... Which then broke a few weeks later, fortunatly by this time I knew hermy the yamaha rep and talked him in to replacing it out right. The replacement the died just out of g'tee... I then bought a second hand marantz that stopped outputting through the analogue outputs (dan Jennings has it now) I then bought a naim cd5 that I thought sounded shit... This 9 year tale of woe helps explain why I like my majik so much eh?
Anyway, so yeah, I think if I could get a cd in it would work, but I figured replacing the bi you can see on the diyaudio thread more easily would be the easiest option?? What you recon?
