Hello everyone, new member , just joined today

My name is Chris and I live on the South Coast in Dorset [ Broadchurch area- Though I dont watch it,honestly !! ], currently getting my system back together after losing my job a couple of years ago.

I sold all my equipment except my speakers and have slowly started to build it up again and currently have the following equipment :

1] Roksan Xerxes 20 Plus , Artemis 2 , Dynavector DV20X2 Low Output
2] Noteworthy Audio Phonote phono Amplifier
3]Art Emotion speakers and I have had the cross overs upgraded, not by Art they wanted £4000, I took out the crossovers and sent them to a small company recommenced to me by Falcon Acoustics, capacitors were upgraded to Mundorf supremes, better internal wiring and better resistors, cant remember the names but the resistor in the treble part cost £20 each and the Bass section £10 each, it cost me £600 and was a really good upgrade, probably the best £600 I have ever paid on my Hi Fi.
4] Icon Audio HP8 Headphone Amp
5]Shure SRH 1540 Headphones
6] Chord Anthem 2 interconnect and Chord Epic speaker cable, plus HI FI Racks Podium reference 4 tier um,, oh yes, Hi Fi rack.

Currently, I do not have a integrated amplifier , but currently looking, so am just using the headphone amp and headphones.

My musical tastes are mainly from the 60`s and mid 70`s, ie, Jimi Hendrix,Led Zep, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors,Cream, CCR,Early Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Spirit, early ZZ Top [ upto Tejas ], Love, Rory Gallagher. Free , The Band, Wishbone Ash, Groundhogs, Peter Green`s Fleetwood Mac, Canned Heat, plus a few of the Bluesmen, BB King, Muddy Waters , Son House, John Lee Hooker, etc, etc.

I only play records, havent played a CD for 15 / 16 years, have my original LP`s , I bought when I was a teenager, plus about 15 years started buying the re-issues from Classic Records, Mofi, Speakers Corner, Purepleasure records , Analogue Productions etc.

So, hopefulyy that tells you a little bit about me, bye for now.

Welcome Chris , nice introduction . Nothing worse than having to sell your gear to pay the bills . Looks like things are looking up and you have a nice system to play your LPs on again .

There are plenty of vinyl lovers here , so enjoy the forum :)

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I am 57 years old and have up until recently been a transistor guy [ the amps I had to sell were the original Masterclass series] but then I had to sell most of my Hi Fi , and I thought I would give valves ago , I demo`ed some Icon Audio amps and was really impressed with the mid range , I hadnt heard Paul Kossoff`s or Peter Greens guitars sound so lovely, though the bass and treble werent quite good enough for Hendrix, Led Zep, Pink Floyd etc, though to be fair the amps were SET - 17 watts, so am looking at push pull class A amps.
My first real system was when I was 18/19 is was :
Thorens TD160 / SME 3009 MK 2 / Ortofon VMS20E
Trio amp, cant really remember , but I think it was a KA 3700
And a pair of Mordaunt Short Pagent loudspeakers

My last system prior to this one, which I had to sell was :
Liinn/Lingo/Cirkus bearing/Ekos Mk 2/Dynavector dv20
SugdenMasterclass phono amp , MK1 [ Sugden told me it was only made for a couple of years and a totally different design to their latest Masterclass phono amp
Sugden Masterclass Integrated amp
Art Emotion Loudspeakers, and as already said , I couldn`t part with them, I was really pleased that I did keep them, and thats when I upgraded the crossovers, when I got back on my financial feet.

Cheers
Chris

Hello All,

Just an update, I am buying an Ear 8L6 amplifier from someone on this site, hopefully should have it sometime next week.

That will then be my system complete and should be able to just concentrate on playing and buying records !!!

Will be good to hear music through my speakers again , since I have just been using headphones for the last few months.
Cheers
Chris
