Hey @Marco

Is there any reason that the forum doesn't have a like button (he says, hoping he hasn't missed it) ?

The amount of times I want to like a choice on the Spinning Today thread and can't, it's frustrating !

The nearest thing to a 'like button' we have would be for you to post a 'smiley', such as :),, :smoking: etc.

OK, thanks Barry :youtheman:

This isn't Facebook and we're not all insecure

We could have a poll, that way folk can indicate whether they like a like button. Personally, I don't feel we need that.

(There you go, that's how it can be done ;) )

This thread died last October - it should have stayed dead imo.

What is this Facebook thing that keeps getting mentioned? Sounds awful.

Like it or not, it's likely that like buttons are liked by a lot of people that have developed a liking for them and liken them to a thumbs up, like.

Like buttons are suitable for fake people.

The Rate This Thread icon at the top is as close as we need to get.

Nah we are grown adults here and this is not facebook :) I think we need to stick to our guns and not succumb to these awful and shallow trends.

This is not you tube and I cant see any reason for a like button here

If Marco wants to introduce a monthy winner for the best thread we can have a like button. I will step up my game for a Blue Aura amp or Amazon voucher :)

Seriously I can see a point if its a revenue generating video and you just want people to click support as fast as possible.

No point on a forum as its about debate and everybody making their comment. Ive seen pages of +1s and its a bit naff. We can tell each other why we like something and keep the thread flowing onwards

pfm have introduced a ‘like’ button - I don’t mind it but I don’t think it really adds much.

I like being un-liked, if we end up with a like button can we also have a "Crusty old b*st*rd" button as well :)

Marco

The missus has a like button...

Yes, but that's for an entirely different purpose!:eyebrows:

Btw, as it's the second Wednesday of the month, and currently not raining, are you wearing your rubber gimp suit?

Marco.

Ah yes, of course... How could I have forgotten about the itchy rash it caused. I'm convinced you had an allergic reaction to that organic talcum powder.

If there was to be a like button should there not also be a hate button? Dialectics 101.

If there is only a like button and I don't press it am I saying I don't like it or am I just indifferent to it or what? How are people supposed to know? So there needs to be a 'meh' button too.

That's the trouble with the internet, nothing has been properly thought through.

walpurgis
15-03-2018, 18:14
An 'indifferent' button would probably get the most use, but I'm not sure I'd be interested enough to use it.

Macca
15-03-2018, 18:25
I suppose it could be a default. So if you don't like or hate it automatically scores it as indifferent.

I don't know why I'm having to work all this out myself. Wasn't Sir Tim Berners-Lee (or whatever) supposed to do all this already? Invented the internet my arse, at best it's just a quick lash-up.

I reckon that in a dusty forgotten corner somewhere, there's a thirteen amp plug in a wall socket, which if yanked out would bring the entire internet grinding to a halt.

I read somewhere that the boffins say they really need to stop it for at least 24 hours while they sort it out but the frightening thing is that would cause civilisation to crash completely so they can't ever do it. They just have to keep lashing it up.
