I seem to have started a collection of classic tonearms.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171022/f296fa4f88a3220bca27734ff7b23950.jpg

Starting with a very original Rega RB300 which was my father's before he upgraded.

Earlier this year year I picked up the mission 774 here, but house moves etc means I've yet to try this on the turntable. Then Oliver comes along with an Alphason HR100mcs at a great price.

Which is the arm I've always wanted to put on the TD124 because for one I know they sound great and given the vintage of the Thorens I've also felt a straight arm never looked quite right on it.

So armboard ordered and in the next few weeks I'll be trying out both the new arms.

More updates to follow...

At what stage does it become a problem? Well I'll put myself up as a hopeless case and a cautionary example: I have three TD124/IIs and a choice of ten tonearms to fit to them. So take heed! ;)

There's a few knocking about here.

An original Helius arm
Two Decca FFSS arms.
A Linn Basik LV-V
Three and a half Mission 774's (a spare arm wand counts as half :))
A Jelco SA-5

And I think there may be a Lenco L75 arm or two amongst all the bits tucked away.

You only need one to play music, any more than that and it's wasting time, fannying about not just enjoying the music :sofa: :)

Nice Collection you have there but there will only be one winner. The Alphason is the best in that bunch.

Enjoy the testing though. The Mission arm will surprise you, it's a fantastic arm.
