Lightweight, lol! :ner:

I usually do 30-odd at a time, whilst having a wee drinky and listening to some choons!

Mine is a very nice early press too. This is my second LP as the first was in a shocking state, pops & crackles all the way through.
I have a copy of A momentary lapse of reason that does exactly the same as yours. Distorted on guitar solos. I think I'll bin it tbh as it really is bad. I think it's a damaged/worn disc.

Yes I can do that as I have multiple copies of some albums ;)

Indeed... I listen to the record I've just cleaned (whilst doing another one), to make sure it PLAYS quietly, despite looking clean, as one doesn't always automatically follow the other - and sometimes records take 2-3 cleans before that's achieved [certainly to my satisfaction].

Absolutely - do that too. Sometimes it takes several goes to get it right.

Yup, Tom, especially with classical music records, if you want to hear the quiet passages minus any 'Rice Crispies' effect ;)

I think the "Pink Floyd Records" label remasters are excellent, definitely worth checking out and very reasonably priced too

I can't imagine any RCM being quiet enough for one to do an audible 'quality control' assessment of a record that has just been cleaned, whilst cleaning another.

It would have to be completely silent. And I can't imagine any vacuum cleaning device being completely silent.

They pur like a kitten no more

Barry

That's still enough of a distraction to tell if they are really clean, apart from an obvious 'snap', 'crackle' or 'pop'.

Is that why you dont own one ?

Barry

Oh I own one but have loaned it to a friend of mine on a permanent basis since he has quite a few more LPs than I do. As a return favour he cleans any LP I want and goes to a lot more trouble doing it than I would.

Lol... The vacuuming process [the noisy bit] only lasts a few seconds! Hardly a hardship... The rest of the [manual] cleaning process is silent, thus allowing one to scrutinise how quiet the record you've just cleaned plays, whilst enjoying the music contained on it.

I don't find the process a chore at all; on the contrary, it's rather therapeutic :)
