Hi all!

As you may know, I desesperatly look for a second hand OA 601... As I was looking at adds on the Internet, I found an add for a SUGDEN AU51 (2x70w) amp...

As the pupose was (and still is) to bi-amp my speakers, and as I don't find any OA 601 (there's one available in Singapore... a bit far from home!! And a bit expensive shipping costs... I even don't talk about duty taxes...), I imagined I could do it horizontaly (one amp for the L+R bass sections, and the other for the medium/trebble ones) coupling the ONIX and the SUGDEN...

I know the SUGDEN (good) reputation, but I never listen to their products... What would be your opinion:

1) ONIX & SUGDEN have coherent characterisitics/sound and would be a good association... Just buy it and try it!

2) Risky business: these are too different, it would be a f*cking chance if they work well together!

3) Keep the cash, and wait for an ONIX opportunity!

4) AOI?

Waiting for reading you!!!

O.A. ;)

P.S.: BTW, what would be a reasonnable price for it?? ;)

I think it be best to wait but it might be awhile

The only possible problem with this Sugden is that all those output trannies will probably take an age to align themselves from switch-on - the dreaded warm-up. These days, you could probably get the same output with two transistors per channel...

It could work but you'd need to be sure the gain of both amps is the same or you'll get an imbalance in levels.
