Media player to DAC problems

This is a good one even i can't sort out!

I'm using a Seagate meadia player connected to an outboard DAC via optical link (Only digital option). reading FLAC files from outboard HDD. The problem lies with when i listern through headphones via DAC i get a short fizzling sound as it changes track but if i connect the headphones to the media players audio out direct i don't, even if i listern thru the Televisions headphone out i don't!!

If i connect an analogue lead from media player out, to DAC it's fine also!!Actually it sounds better that way.

I actually experienced a simlar thing when I connected my Apple TV to my Beresford with an optical cable. Although rather than between tracks, it was between 'clicks' when scrolling up and down menus. However I suspect the cause is the same and that it's because the digital signal is muting very briefly between tracks.

It's 1 mtr Dimitri, i'd expect something like this for MP-3 but now from flawless FLAC's..Like i said it doesnt do it listerning any onther way than from DAC connection.I can actually hear the same when i move to menu, as you press & confirm setting the same sound appears. :scratch:

Seem there's a problem in the dac's muting circuit.
Do you get this "fizzling" sound when you start playing a song or just between songs ?

Ok, if it's the muting circuit you can contact the manufacturer and see what he has to say about it : they surely have experienced the problem with others too. Strange it's just the headphone that is affected, though... ;)
