Hi to everyone on this forum. I have been browing the forum a number of months and late last year splashed out on a Caiman DAC from Stan. Since then I've done the Mirata Reg upgrade to it, now just waiting on non-polarised Rubycon caps to finish that particular mod.

Yorkshire born and bred, but have lived in NZ for 28 years, married a kiwi lass, and enjoying being downunder.

I've moved to a full streamed solution in the last 12 months cannot remember when I last played a physical CD. I have 2230 CD's in FLAC on a server which is then accessed from around the house both wired and wireless. Two major entertainment areas

Lounge (Stereo)
Dell Laptop/Docking Station with Audiotrak Advanced HD2 DE sound card/Optical and RCA out
CMP/CPlay as my music software player on a minimal WIN XP/Minilogon Setup
Chord Opitcord SPDIF cable
Caiman DAC
Antipodes Kaitipo RCA cables
Squeezebox 3
Rega Brio 3 Amp
Rega Apollo CD
Rega R5 Speakers
Naim NC5 Speaker cable
Also have Antipodes RCA's cables from the soundcard direct to the Rega Brio, as I have been playing with some analogue mods to the HD2 soundcard including Op Amp rolling.

TV Room
Sony SRXD 60" 1080p TV
SkyTV HDi decoder and recorder
Region A Playstation 3 access photos, music, movies using TVersity on Server
Region B Playstation 3 access photos, music, movies using TVersity on Server
Pioneer 969DVDi SACD/DVDA player
Pioneer AXi4Si Reciever
Mission 773e, 77ci, 77DS 5.1 speakers
Velodyne 12" sub

Music Taste
The XX
Kings of Leon
Damien Rice
Tangerine Dream
Ralph Vaughn Williams
Pink Floyd
John Coltrane
Miles Davies
Elbow
Cafe del Mar

i.e a bit of everything

Looking foward to participating in this community

Hey, very nice setup Frizzup. :)
I wonder how a Caiman sounds through a full-Reag setup : did you have another dac before purchasing it ?

Welcome to AoS, btw ! (the jetlag will be hard to manage...)

Hi Themis,

Yes I still have an MHDT Constantine Plus which got some rave reviews over at enjoythemusic.com. MHDT best known for its Paradisa and Havana tube DACS. The Caiman with the mods has settled in to being an outstanding performer, works very well with the Rega setup even before I added the Murata mods, so its time to sell the MHDT Constantine Plus.

Thinking of selling the Rega Apollo CD and Brio Amp as a combo and just buying a better amp. Have no use for CD player, just need to decide what amp, Rega, Naim, or Pereaux etc.

Have a look at Glenn Croft's amps : they are perhaps what you need. They accommodate very well Caiman's precision. ;)
But you'll have to give up the remote facility...

Ali, Themis,

Thanks for the advice, I'll do some research, but not over the next 4 weeks. Younger brother/wife winging thier way from UK/Sheffield and land in NZ tomorrow morning. First time for them downunder and we've only caught up about 4 weeks in the last 28 years when we've been back to the UK. A lot of catching up to do, little time for playing around with Amp's, op amps and soldering.;)

Catch you guys later, the wife's on my case to get a few odd jobs around the house finished before the family arrives :(
