I think I've just sold mine and need either something to tide me over until I can find some good ones, or a great pair I'll want to keep for a while. Budget £50 to ??? Seriously, I can't justify £1000+ as I don't get the time to listen much these days, but if they were say Focal 928be or similar then we could talk. No standmounts please (unless they bolt on to matching heavy stands) due to young children. Must have grilles/driver protection for similar reasons. Must be able to deliver to North London near the M25/A406/A1/A10.

I have a pair of Usher CP 6372 speakers in piano gloss black, with the wooden side ‘cheeks?’
It goes to the top of your budget, but I’d say they are the best speakers I have ever owned!

I'm about to list some royd minstrels in black, if you are interested...

Thanks, probably a bit lightweight for my tastes, I do like an 8" woofer or 2x6" with a bit of grunt down below. Then again, if they were wood veneer in good nick with grilles they might be a stopgap.

No black ash please! Piano gloss is fine.

If the price was right it could still work short term, PM me the price if you like. Although the buyer has gone worryingly quiet...

Sorry, it was meant for Martian sunrise, your reply must have appeared while I was typing mine in so I didn't see it.

My buyer has been back in contact, hopefully still on track so bumping. A few ideas: Jamo concert 11, kef reference model 1-4, Epos ES22, Celestion A2, Monitor Audio R952MD/1200 to name but a few I've liked.

Maybe the old response models are better value? I wouldn't mind trying some bigger Tannoys!

the studio models seem very popular , well worth a try if you are on a budget

I have a pair of Avalon NP Evolution 2.0 floor standers in real Cherry veneer that aren't being used and really need a new home, for around £600. Lovely, musical things, designed to be used with grilles on, that stand less than 1m tall, yet with twin 6" bass units have a decent amount of bass extension. They still have their double shipping boxes. Not in mint cosmetic condition, since Avalon used lacquer that does chip easily at the edges (but nothing ugly), and there are some scratches at the bottom of one speaker that I will get seen to by a cabinet maker to render them invisible.

They look like these:

Thanks Hugo, something to think about, I'd like to try that ceramic tweeter, but I've always wanted to try the higher range ones with the sloping baffles as they seem to go very cheap compared to RRP.

Indeed, like most stuff that originally retailed at lofty prices. I think Avalon surprised themselves with the NP series, which were aimed at the home cinema market, but turned out to be good enough to threaten their 'proper' HiFi stuff, which I think is why they were dropped and the £7k Idea came in to fill the gap left by the NP 2.0. I'm now going to drag them down from storage upstairs and have a listen against the KEF LS50s (and indeed the Tannoy Berkeleys).

Ok if you send me some pics of the marks please I can have a think. Will PM my email.

Now if you were selling the Berkeleys...

Emergency!! My speakers should be gone by 5pm, so I'll consider a cheap short term pair to keep me going if I can move them on quickly without loss when needed. Condition less important. Loaner would be great too, I'd be eternally grateful!

Lawrence, if it is a very cheap short term you would be happy with why not go for something less than a pony? There is a guy near you trying to sell his AE120s which may fit the bill. Last unsold at £120 (on Gumtree, higher on e****) and he is happy to deliver within a short distance. But clearly the SQ will be nowhere near what you are used to.

He makes up stories about having owned the gear he sells for years, if he's really owned all the stuff he's shifted for years from new he must live in a warehouse. And strange that half of it was going cheap on gumtree and ebay a few weeks earlier around the south east, identical down to veneer grain and serial numbers

He once tried to flog me a bunch of magazines that"spanned the decades". When he turned up with them they were dated 1997-2001, so they did indeed span two decades but not exactly what I expected. When I said they weren't what he had said, he gave me some story about having a hire car he was about to return and he couldn't leave the magazines in there. He's basically a liar.

And besides that, he's beaten me to about 3 great pieces of kit on gumtree I really wanted. ;)

Search back on, the 4.2s were too big, which I knew really, so they went the other day and a pair of 2.2s arrived today - with a broken mid driver :(

BKS 128 supreme ribbon hybrid, I had the 107s before and they sounded superb in a mini monitor kind of way, these sound like a reasonably sized 2 way floorstander but far more refined with the long ribbon. The totally inert granite sided cabinet seems to help get more bass out of the 6.5" cone than you would expect. So this one is the complete package compared to the 107. Very happy.

They unfortunately fell through as they were too far away, wish I could have worked something out as I reckon they were pretty good.

I wouldn't call it a people carrier. With 2 kids in the back you can't lower the seats which restricts speaker choice to standmounts and tiny floorstanders.

Lovely looking speakers with great reviews. How did you manage to get them to your place? They are 45kg each!

Love to hear them sometime if I may? When are you due to sell them on? End of the month? :eyebrows:

Still think this journey you are on Lawrence ends with you having a pair of MBLs. Then you can listen to the music at last. :ner:

The usual method, find someone desperate enough to shift their speakers that they will travel miles to offload them!

You're more than welcome to hear them, I'll let you know when I've got the house to myself next time. I might be able to arrange for you to hear a few dacs through them too ;)
