I used an LK1/LK100 amp combo for years. Nowt wrong with Linn except it is a little overpriced bought new.

Linn Activ here, and very nice to, the Linn LK 85 power amp is excellent, well the LK range in general is good value for money.

Nothing wrong with some Linn gear, especially their streaming kit, which is top-notch... Even LP12s are ok, as long as you avoid the mentalist-priced new stuff :mental: ;)

And not have it all so tightly tighten to within an inch of its life. Best sounding Linn L12 I ever heard was set up this way.

I've owned Linn in the past, very good kit. Had a LP12 for a while, valhalla and all the over gubbins. Eventually got replaced with the 1210.

Couple of days of testing and the Classik has the usual skipping like a tonearm fault but only on track 1 of each CD i play? could it be DUST on the laser which laser cleaning discs are best or worth an attempt to clean my self If not off to an engineer to see what can be done excellent sounding kit and moving stuff on to justify keep it Tukan are a real Jem also...:)

Try a soft (eg camel hair) brush on the laser lens - might just be a bit of muck / dust.

That worked for a CD Walkman type device of a friend of mine with similar problems.

Hi Jerry

Thank you its a weird one maybe its a worn disc that i have had for many years but plays on other CD players fine - The Classik maybe is sensitive but it has played a couple of albums fine this afternoon - OMD & Emily Barker without fault but worth looking into your suggestion and many thanks..

Cheers
Daniel

Cleaning might clear the problem, but don't use a cleaning cd as some of them will wreck the optics and they don't work in any case.

Cheers Martin , Couple of quick ones RE jumping the Tukan's i dont have the plates to single wire them - can i jump them with bare wire or does anyone have the metal plates?

You can use bare wire, it will do the same job. But it will oxidise over time and need stripping back.

Cleaned the Laser and the result is still the same so its a faulty laser - i can buy a new one from eBay but who can i get to fit it? All my local guys have retired:(

Please advice...

clean the carriage rails and then re graphite them(what the laser moves on). possibly that causing it

It's a bit of a long shot, but if keilidh wiring plates are the same fit and I can find the ones I'm sure I have somewhere you are welcome to have them.

Will do, I did have look online and they do appear to be the same, I'm pretty sure I know where they are, I think I even have the Linn spanner thing too. I'll dig them out at the weekend.

Don't see why not, as long as you are certain about polarity.
