First let me saying how I get here.
I own a Technics SL 1200, always WIP with modding & upgrading. It's easy to find around forums about modding for DJ use, but here I found a lot of serious tips&tricks for audiophile use. That I was looking for, so I'll stick here for a long while

Well, time to introduce myself.

I've been a music & Hi-Fi addicted since I was 5 yo, playing my fathers records on an 'phono suitcase' (it was the 1966...), the one see as my avatar.

Currently I own this set-up
* a Rega Planar 3 + RB300 + Elys + Super Elys (I don't listen to it anymore)
* a modded Technics SL 1210 MK5 + Stanton 681EEE
* a plain Technics SL 1210 MG5 + Denon DL 160
* an brand-new AM Audio PA 40 Reference S3 (which replaced the S1)
* an AM Audio MM 20 pre-phono, with its AM Audio PW-20 PSU
* two AM Audio Rossini Reference S1 speakers
all wires and cables are from AM Audio, too.
My CD Player got broken three years ago. Well, I didn't feel the need to buy it anymore.

I own a Terratec DMX6 Fire USB, too, to rip my vinyls and doing DVD-A to be played in the car.
-
I own about 5000 CD and about 1500 LPs/12''. I love almost all the genres of music ranges, but I'm selective about styles. For example, I love all 50's and 60's Jazz, but I don't like syles from 70's on, except for experimental jazz from ECM.
-
Said enough, now let's go to talk to something more interesting than my life...

Welcome, Gdg - I'm the wrong person to talk to about Techie turntables, but plenty of folks on here are, as you've found.

Wow - that's a lot of CDs and records - double my collection I reckon.

Have fun!

Welcome. Marco will respond in your native language I'm sure :)

Sell the rega and Elys('s) and invest the money in some more mods and/or a jelco 750 tonearm (I don't know how far you've modded the techie).

Piccies please.......:)

...well, Jelco 750D was my first idea, but now I'm thinking about a linear tracking arm from Trans-fi Audio. But that's why I'm here, for some advice. For sure I'll get the Timestep PSU & bearing.

Welcome ' Come stai

I see you have a DL160 on one of your 1210 's how is it sounding for you :)

I choose the DL 160 because of a suggestion of a guy from another forum, since I didn't want to get a MC pre-phono for the DL 103R. It sounds very good, compared to the Super-Elys and the Staton 681. Very clear & clean at upper frequencies. Maybe is missing some punch at the mid-lower and lower sides, but the most important thing to me, it doesn't suffer of the "sibilants" problem I had with the other two pick-ups. I think is a very good budget pickup. Next I'll try the Goldring 1042.

I agree it lacks a bit of bottom end clout ' but quite a sweet sounding cart overall .

The 1042 is an overpriced mm these days with the subtlety of a sledghammer - and I DON'T mean that as a compliment!!!!!!!!!

Ortofon make some god if expensive MM's rather above thre 1042 in sound and there's always the AT150ML for a change, as well as the Sumiko BPS and Dynavector 10XV, which is in the DL160 class (slight changes have brought about re-negotiation of the manufacturing pricing contract and this has some bearing on the fact it costs double the DL160 now instead of less as was once the case in the 80's)
