I would, but I was raised to respect my elders.
You'd never catch me on foot, anyway :D

Tut-tut, Chris... Did you mean granddad? I'm surprised at you, as our resident Captain Pedantic! ;)

Suzi? Not really my thing, never was. I'm more of an 80s boy! Good luck to her, though. She looks much better when she's on stage.

Never liked the Glam Rock stuff she was "persuaded" to do.
She worked with some big names in her early years, her sister was in "Fanny". Suzy was a classically trained pianist, much more to her than "Devil Gate Drive" which still makes me cringe when I see the formation dancing. :D

The only thing I can remember her doing was 'Can The Can'. That wasn't anyone's finest hour.

Oh yeah and she was in an episode of 'Minder' playing Terry's girlfriend.

Both spellings are correct, clever clogs! :)

Mmm... I'd dispute that. Think about it when you pronounce the word...

'Grandad' sounds like Gran-dad; there is no emphasis on the 'd', to indicate the necessary 'Grand'. Whereas, when you say 'Granddad', it sounds like Grand-dad.

You're therefore emphasising the necessary 'd', in order to indicate the 'Grand'. Sometimes, despite there being two official 'correct' spellings, one is still more correct than the other ;)

think most would now spell it grandad. I do too

The point you've raised is one of phonetics, and linguistics.
Go to most places in Lancashire and Yorkshire and you'll generally hear it pronounced as Gran-dad.
Go over to Scouseland and you'll often hear it pronounced as Grand-dad, although the first D is almost skipped over.

With the gradual homogenisation of spoken language either pronunciation could become the norm, and so that spelling might become the predominant one.
I wouldn't lay bets on it going either way, 'cause you might well loose your money :)

Absolutely - and both are vital in ensuring effective and accurate communication :)

I hear what you're saying and agree, but it doesn't dispute the fact that only by using 'Granddad' is the 'd', to indicate the necessary 'Grand', actually pronounced.

That's one where I'd like to have a time machine, and send a Terminator back to just before the first time it was used on the internet :eyebrows:

Just the first one :)
Once news reports get out that announce that the Terminator was sent back to exterminate internet users that spell lose incorrectly, you can bet your bottom dollar that the practise will never get a grip.

Nooo... Not my type at all! Way too old, as well, then or now! ;)

The one I used to fancy 'back in the day' was the girl with the dark hair in The Human League, or for older women, Kate Bush or Kim Wilde! Those pouting big lips and mouth, which looked like they could swallow a can of Tizer, as an appetiser! :D
