Hi all, l am still getting static on my Techie SL1200, even after washing on a VPI, it is the stock rubber mat, are there any aftermarket mats that would remove the said static, and indeed improve the sound, l was thinking of the Soundhifi mat, would this be my best bet- thanks!

I now use our mat on my SP-10 as well as the SL-1200, it does kill static.

Weirdly Dave, my mat is a bugger for static....

Was thinking of a Zerostat gun....

Hi Steve,

Zerostat guns just work - end of, so buy one with confidence :)

Now that is what I wanted to hear.

...plus of course you can pretend it's a ray-gun! :mental:

A humidifier is another option that will get rid of static in the entire room and not just on your records.

I might be in the market for one of your mats too soon Dave...

I've never found any mat (although many make this claim) to make much difference to static (and I have tried a lot of mats) - how the bearing is earthed and the humidity of the room is another matter though.

(I never have a problem with static)

Weirdly, since I've ditched the stock feet and put on the wall shelf, my static problem has vanished.

Before it was so bad it crackled as I lifted the disc and was almost stuck to the mat and now nothing!
