View Full Version : Shipping amplifiers
I'm looking to buy the quad monoblocks offered on this site.
They have to be shipped from Northern Ireland to France.
Having no experience with this, any wise words on who to use, how to pack, what to watch out for.
There must be a lot of experience on this forum.
Thanks in advance. Eelco.
I use DHL.
Many courier companies do not offer much insurance when shipping amplifiers.
They need to be well packed, preferably double boxed with plenty of protection.
I've bought Quad mono's and stereo 909's from Germany and Holland respectively, and sold the mono's to Norway. If it genuine Quad boxes is no problem at all. Pharos will insure for 2%.
Could make a wooden crate up, and sandwich it with cardboard outer and lots of padding inside sit it wont move in any direction. Padded wooden jams are good for this. Fitted to wooden crate inside. Its easier than you think, as long as you think about it
Put each amp in a cotton pillow case without the power cord then wrap it in plenty of bubble wrap. If your using two boxes then bubble wrap the inner box too. Pack power leads separately also in bubble wrap. I also use plenty of the fragile tape and label which side is up.
Thanks for the replys.
Think i got it sorted.
