Am I the only one who finds a maximum of 50 PMs a little restrictive? I do delete the unnecessary ones and all my sent ones but I would really appreciate a doubling of the allowance to 100 or so. Would it make much impact to the hosting system, wherever that is?

No, you are not alone !!! I vote for Martin !!! (and the 100PM limit, btw)

I feel really unwanted now. I've got just eight PM's stored and they are there for sentimental reasons. How can you need more than 100 ?..

PS. Just deleted two so now I've got six stored...

I download mine as text files and then delete them from the mailbox.

I am sure Nick, Marco or Steve will correct me on this if I am wrong, but the V Bullitin software only allows for 50, if your a normal member. Admin and Mods have a bigger number in order to deal with the very many Pms we get during the course of running the forum.

So I think 50s it...sorry folks.

50s pretty good, on PFM you only get 10 :(

I'm constantly being reminded that my mail box is '90%' or '94%' full or whatever, so have to delete some messages. Remember that this includes messages received as well as sent. Since most replies include the sent message, you can delete the sent message to clear up space.

It hadn't though of saving important messages as text files. Will do so in future. Thanks Dave.

Regards

The only PMs I've got are from mods telling me I've crossed a line!

I'll post up some notes on saving your messages to a text file... it's really easy when you know how, and the whole of each mailbox (in / out) can be saved to it's own file... no cutting and pasting. I'm on a train now so something for later :)

Hehehe.... I have a 1000 limit on my PMs and it's still not enough!!

Seriously though, guys, we'll look into this and come back to you :)

Marco.

Ok, chaps, the PM limit has been increased to 100 so you can all continue sending each other love letters :eyebrows:

Marco.

This isn't an excuse not to keep your in / outboxes tidy though! Poor old Steve and Marco will end up having to pay for extra storage if we're not careful :eyebrows:

As an IT administrator I know that problem all too well. I promise I'll keep pruning!

The AOS allocation is now the most generous of the three major UK sites on VBulletin for mailbox ccapacity. Tony L only allows 10!

Sorry, but that's a fallacy. The AOS hosts offer unlimited disk space on all hosting accounts.

That said, is there (or why isn't there) a donate button for those who wish to donate to the running of the site?

Because we're nice?

Perhaps Steve would like to comment, but I really like the sentiment, Kris!

Evidently so, although admin level users have a limit of 1,000. I've still no idea why I set it so high though.

Or the start of the slippery slope, one of the two.....

Good grief - we're talking about 100 PMs here, not 2GB of mailbox space each! :)

Good idea, I'll put it to the committee.
