Following a major fatal accident the M1 is closed by Milton Keynes.

saw that.. 2 lorries and a minibus. I take it the fatalities will have been in bus. could be closed all day

Ah yes, the 'August bank holiday weekend'...

Another peculiar British tradition, where hoards of 'sheep' all head in the same direction (to UK coastal areas/resorts), sit in massive traffic jams to get there (and back), and in between enjoy the few hours that they have left to 'relax' (haha), before they have to leave and go through the whole process again...

Then arrive home, sometime on Monday afternoon, more tired and stressed than they were when they left, with work to go to in the morning. Or worse, spend hours negotiating forms of public transport, where in their infinite wisdom, the various privately owned companies concerned have chosen to carry out major repairs/works to train lines, etc.

Thanks, but I think I'll stay at home instead, in the peace and quiet, put my feet up and sip some Prosecco in the garden!! ;)

UK has the fewest bank holidays(public holidays) in Europe Marco.. only 8. :) (bar Italy, where every day is a holiday:lol: )

I know, I just find the concept of 'getting away from it all' rather amusing, when we have the busiest, most overcrowded roads in Europe, along with one of the most badly organised/run public transport networks, especially when everyone is on holiday at the same time, and with the same intentions!

never been into sitting in jams either and liked to avoid driving on fridays and mondays of BH's when working. A bit like pubs, that were full of folk who dont normally drink but go out, get plastered and cause fights :doh:

Was it this tosser then who caused the 'accident', and so was responsible for killing those people? If so, he needs jailed for a long time, banned for driving for life, and sued for damages from everyone affected directly and indirectly for his idiocy!

I hesitate to use the word 'accident', as it rarely is that in these situations; it's almost always outright driver error.

I read it was one of the truck drivers and one of the companies involved is very large, although the other should be insured. Either way it's not the driver that you want to sue but the company, total payout could be in the millions. But agree a long jail sentence would be appropriate.
