I am chuffed.
With the recession, last year was crap-we only got a week in Wales. Sorry Marco but £27 for three sandwiches, two halves of lager and a coke is a bit much.
Any way I have just booked a nifty little villa in Portugal with a pool for 12 nights. Dead cheap and flights look ok too.
At last something to look forward to. I feel like having a little dance.
Have you booked yours yet? Go one, it will cheer you up!

I'm going to Greece this year. (surprise!!!) :)

In Crete, I rent two-room-apartments (calm and air conditioned) four beds, with kitchen equipped, at £48 per night. 150m from the seaside. I will try to find some photos.

We are looking at taking advantage of the hospitality of a good mate of mine who moved to Denver a year or so back, his American wife has offered to "drive us round to see some of America" ... Cheap flights and very cheap acomodation is the plan!
Still thinking of a week somewhere beachy too though (if we can afford it) .. I never quite understand it when people say "I can't do holidays by the beach - I get bored of doing nothing" ... How can it be possible to get bored of sitting on a beach drinking strawberry slushy dequeris/bottle of cold beer Reading a book??

Exactly Hamish. If you do get bored those Rigid Inflatable Boat rides will sort you out. Paracending if fun too but not as exciting as it looks. I am always amazed at the different shapes you see on the beach, naughty parts barely hidden by miniscule thongs.
I always make a beeline for the bloke selling sliced pineapple mmmmmm.

Well Jerry, Mrs Alex wants to get a Villa this year, as we need space and a separate room for the babe, and she has suggested Portugal...! If you're able to share the details, (PM if you like) that would be great!

Otherwise, we'll be going to stay with Marco! :)

Oooh dont do that, there a funny lot those Italian-welsh types.
This is the company we have booked with:
http://www.algarvevillasdirect2you.co.uk/Default.aspx.
Not used them before but the photos look nice and we have picked a new one so it should be clean.
We are trying Tavira this year only half an hour from Faro airport however if you have not been before I recommend Lagos which is a lovely town-it gets really lively at night and you can sit at pavement bars listening to folk singers and other artists.
We will be on guard duty as we are taking my 15 year old daughter and her friend. No nightclubs for them.

A lot of Suffolk peeps go to portugal for their hols. miust be summat in the water....;)

We don't holiday (miserable gits). frankly, we cannot afford to, but if we want the (newly replenished) beach, it's only a five minute walk to the bottom of our road and down the cliff-road to the prom.......

i second the recomendation for lagos, beautiful old town! i used to go there when i was small with my family. i have fond recolections of the burning hot sand of meia praia beach, the massive statue of the boy in the square (ofter added to with monkey nut shells in the genatalia department), the warm monkey nuts available off the sellers in the street and if it is still there, there as i resturant called "reiss" (i think thats how its spelt - pronounced "ray-eesh") they used to do AMAZING sword fish aperently caught localy -certainly fresh and as tender as you like! also try "molatof" (i think it was called) like cream caramel but sorta thicker and not as sweet!
i think lagos has had some major work done on the marina since i was last there too, it was nice then but aparently its even nicer now!!

Hi Jerry,

Don't worry too much about the guard duty, there aren't too many nightclubs in Tavira to worry about. It is though a really lovely old working town, a little off the beaten track with a really nice "atmosphere" to it and some rather nice places to eat/drink. We had a really nice time there last year....recommended.:)

I've just booked a flight for me and her to Rimini because we are going to the "Jamboree" which is a 9 day free music (well predominantly rock 'n roll actually) festival 40 miles south in a town called Senigallia. We've heard good reports of the festival so since we're a pair of R 'n R Seniors we thought we might just pop over there for a jive.:)

Cheers.....Dave

Where the hell did you go to pay that, mad boy?

We'd have done it for £26.75, including a free tour of the dungeon!

A pub in Anglesey, Red Wharf Bay. I think it was called the Pilot. Or something to do with the sea.

Nothing for me this year as in 2009 I flew in and out of Africa a few times (and got married) so I'm saving my money this year. Also I plan to move house at the start of 2011 so need to save for that too.

2012 will be Vegas! :)
