A neighbour wanted to extract the audio from a cassette that he has, I said to him "give it to me, I'll do it"

That was last night, tried a Philips cassette deck, no drive, belt rotted. Next a JVC KD-21D, next a JVC KD-10, same problem, next a Pioneer CT-200, same problem, next a Tandberg TCD300, success, working!

Brain rot too, yesterday I opened a pack of Aldi Cheesy Singles, used two and now all I can find in the fridge is the empty packet. Where the other 13 slices have gone is a complete mystery, can't find them anywhere!

You kept the wrapper and binned the cheese? I do things like that occasionally. :)

I think the latter suggestion, the two feral cats don't get cheese, although the late Tiddles loved cheese.

I had thought of this, but didn't feel like going through the rubbish, but I might check.

i lot a remote for my amazon tv stick. think it got put in bin during a clear up by accident. most inconvenient as a new one is about as expensive as a whole unit:doh:

Perhaps a spare is available at a reasonable price on ebay. Just looked through the rubbish, no 13 cheese slices!

The drive belts in my aged Marantz SD230 had turned to liquid, took hours to clean up the mess, horrid sticky black gunk. Sourced a complete belt kit from Germany for less than a tenner, bit of swearing fitting them and now the old beast is working perfectly. I don't have much use for it these days but worth keeping hold of I feel.

Not sure I want to bother doing new belts on all my cassette decks, The working Tandberg TCD310, I believe has three motors and is direct drive, so this may be why it has survived.

My Triumph (Hitachi made) cassette has lost all her belts . had it since 1978
I was wanting to source a set but thought I was likely to end up with the wrong ones knowing me !!
I was wondering if o ring material would do ,as I have seen kits that use glue to get the o ring required ,and being a bodger , thought it might do the trick !! :eyebrows:

you need the correct tension so has to be accurate size anto, or it will run at wrong speed

if hitchi made a deck under their own naethat looks very similar the belts will probably be same.

The mystery of the missing 13 cheese slices solved!!!

There is a recess below the two drawers in the fridge, removed one drawer to clean it and this is what I found.

21184

Relatively new fridge, so never removed these drawers before.

I need more proof than that!

I would have suggested that maybe Lady Gaga is wearing them - she is said to have worn a dress made of meat.

But since you have now found them, that speculation is now redundant.

Yes but its funny really how we expect the belts on a thirty + year old cassette deck to be fine. Ive only seen the belts go on my first Sharp which was in family storage. I sighed in disappointment but it didnt owe me anything after all that time

I have Denon 3 head models now (Great value brand) and I have working model as an emergency backup for parts. I think belts are available from a German seller who must be hoarding them all and hoping for a full cassette revival :)

Its much better since the internet to source parts. I remember having to go to a warehouse trade counter somewhere. I almost felt I had to give them an extra bung to pick the parts....he would shout through...can you get this Dave and the reply was not sure...I think Ive got them on the shelves but they are so hard to get for that model (and all that baloney BS)...Like they were doing me a favour even after I paid to phone them for a stock check :)

I was giving them a bung as the prices were criminal :)

I have bought a cheap set of belts off e bay , and am going to try and get my old player going :)

Its the same model as in this thread , which saves me loads of typing lol

It has Hitachi power cable on it ,so I concur that it probably is an Hitachi made machine ,for Currys

You get both profiles. It takes a while with a lot of cotton buds and a little alcohol or something like that to get it out of the pulleys. If you don't than it will jam up

As a makeshift repair, I found a belt that was too long, cut it to the correct length and joined it with super glue, like when making "O" rings.
It was still going a couple of months later when I found and fitted a replacement belt. (Old ITT portable cassette deck).
